They have moved from sending ico newsletters to spamming me with infected links and viruses. This is a very sad development. I recently received a phishing link disguised as if it was from blockchain.info, and I almost fell for it.

Shouldn't we consider to disclose those ICOs names on a regular basis?[/size]

Feel free to open a thread about them in Reputation or post in their thread about their scummy behaviour, but as above, I leave any that send me an email negative feedback:

I keep tagging any Icos who send me emails so hopefully they'll get the message.

I'm sure if all the other's who received them kicked up a fuss it'd have a bigger impact.

Same here...
Enrolled in May 2017
Recently faced few spam messages advertizing some shitty ICOs

Shouldn't we consider to disclose those ICOs names on a regular basis?

I am experiencing the same thing as the OP, and I wonder how these ICO's got my email address.

Read the thread. They obviously bought the hacked details from the forum leak:

No, but the forum database was hacked and leaked and these spammy scammy scumfuck ICOs just buy the mailing lists. I keep tagging any Icos who send me emails so hopefully they'll get the message.

Probably the ones who sells your email are ICO and sites where you submitted your email and slack (mostly slack because it's broken AF)

It's not that. I've never signed up for an ICO but I keep getting the spam. They're just buying a mailing list from somewhere.

I seriously doubt if this is Bitcointalk selling your account... Probably the ones who sells your email are ICO and sites where you submitted your email and slack (mostly slack because it's broken AF)

I am experiencing the same thing as the OP, and I wonder how these ICO's got my email address. This is a new development and has been constant for some two months now. This leads me to thinking that the op is right, and that our emails have somehow been harvested and sold to these icos. I wont be investing in any of them anyway.

October 2013: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/about-the-recent-attack-306878

There seems to have been quite a gap between the board getting hacked and then people actually selling hacked accounts from it. The hacker was asking for large sums for the leaked info initially but now you can probably buy it from most deepweb markets for fairly cheap. People pop up on here from time to time trying to sell it (though most are likely just scammers).

could there be some rogue agent intercepting communication on bitcointalk/theymos mail server

Could there be? Yes. Is there? I don't know. Are you sure you used a fresh email for every board? There are numerous crypto sites that have had their databases leaked.

Not that I'm aware of, though I haven't heard of any others complaining about new emails or new sign-ups post forum hack having their details leaked.

so when was it leaked? 2013 or 2015?
however I don't get why I started getting these spam only after I returned to the forum
I began actively posting again on this forum last july (2017) after a year+ absence (Apr 2016)
there was no spam in my mailbox up to that point
but after a week or two active in the forum, I started getting crypto related email spam

all those spam arrived in the inbox email that was specifically registered only for bitcointalk
for every sign up, registration or whatever that needs email address, I generate a different address
it's my way to figure out which of my activities that might trigger unwanted incoming messages
the one time I use that email address (since july) was when emailing theymos to unlock my account that july
could there be some rogue agent intercepting communication on bitcointalk/theymos mail server

Do not and it's a fact.
From at beginning of my registration never got any spam emails at all! Just checked that one time more.
I made and using currently an email - especially made for this forum. So you have to look at someone else.

I hear what you are saying and i completely looked at all the alternatives. The fact remains i HAVE NOT USED my main Email Address for any crypto website besides bitcointalk.org This is the last time i will say this. Maybe you were not part of the "Hack" maybe it was older members? Maybe Email addresses of Senior members and above are being sold?    Maybe maybe maybe doesn't answer the question though.

Ok, ok calm down mate.
Was there any hacks between 2013 dec and 2014 feb? As I got registered in feb 14, still got no spams and you got a lot of spams, when registered in dec 2013

I have too, and I was wondering about this as well.  I don't do any business here really, and
no one else related to crypto has my e-mail address.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least if Theymos or whoever was doing this.  This is a forum where
scammers aren't banned, and some of the worst behavior takes place with no consequences.
I don't see any other explanation.

Has there been a hacking in the last year?  I haven't been registered all that long.

lol, no. thats imposible. maybe you'v just signed up to some websites before thats why you are recieving those spam messages on your emails inbox.
But I haven't signed up on any sort of ICO or crypto website, and I've been getting those spam e-mails.

There is a second.

I have been here since 2013. I changed my Profile Email to one of my secondaries like 6 Months ago after i started getting "Offers" thinking it might be my Email being sold by this website. I realized my Email has always been hidden from the public on this forum.  It has only been a problem the last few months.

So have any major hacks occurred on the Website in the last 6 months that would make you point your finger to that?

I have been getting hammered with NEW ICO offers from shitcoins in my Email. I have ZERO affiliation with any Cryptocoin Websites or Mining programs With the Exception of one....Bitcointalk.org

My Email address is Hidden from my profile and after receiving Dozens of offers i thought i would put a Fake Email on My profile just in case. The offers continue to flow.  How in the fuck is this happening? The only reasonable common Denominator is Bitcointalk is either selling them or their security is a joke.

Correct me if i'm wrong here...Please keep the lame Trolling and the paid Signature campaign spammers to a minimum.

lol, no. thats imposible. maybe you'v just signed up to some websites before thats why you are recieving those spam messages on your emails inbox.  anyway you can just report it or mark them as spam so they cant bothered you anymore. thats solves your problem and this is not really a big deal.

Thanks for the input But, I have never signed up for anything crypto Currency related using my main Email address. I have Multiple Addresses that i use for BS that i don't want replies or offers from crappy companies.  I have NEVER used my main Email address Except for Bitcointalk.org.

I have been marking them as spam but new "Offers" everyday.
