Yes it is, Many people associated blockchain with the cryptocurrency ,bitcoin yes it is true that ,it was the success of bitcoin that gave the world insight into the blockchain technology  .Bussiness is the sector that take the advandage of blockchain.it reduce the time cost and accountability,so blockchain is best innovation of the world.blockchain technology provide security ,transparency ,immutability and decentralization to the world

. Usually the needs of a government are not the same as of an individual.

Therein lies a large part of the problem, much government today is there to serve itself and enforce the servitude of others.

Thanks to Bitcoin and the associated blockchain, holding government accountable to the individual is now a possibility.

There are applications on the horizon which we never dreamed possible.

I hope... Cool

Most people don’t actually want decentralized. Cash is far more decentralized than credit cards, but cash is dying as credit cards surge. One of the reasons for this is that credit cards allow for chargebacks, security against fraud, and prevent you from losing money if you lose your wallet. All of these things require a master authority which can judge which transactions to reverse.

We live in a world where our online IDs are in the hands of the government and banks, and we rely on them to keep it secure. Blockchain IDs on the other hand, put you and you only in control. Therefore, you can store all your passwords and any other personal information on the blockchain, eliminating the need of passwords in everything. In the future, these ID services could be applied to government services, medicines and any other record keeping agency.

Blockchain system exist to combat greed and middlemen and to give individuals ultimate control of their identity and activity. In a blockchain future, we will see a world where our medical records are immediately available if we are in an accident; where online voting was possible; and where transparency was paramount and greed is disincentivized.

It will take a lot for governments to involve blockchain technology in the system

It is not perfect, but it is a good solution for several problems related to a large amount of data, has a greater security and etc. That is, it is not perfect, nothing is, but each case has a problem and blokchain solves a lot of these.

Human history is always riddled with insatiable greed and selfishness resulting into conflicts and problems which ordinary people like you and me can experience. This was true before and sadly this is even truer these days. Good thing that this weakness of human nature is partly addressed by the blockchain technology but then again just like any man-made invention nothing is really perfect here. We have the capacity to make things complicated and hopefully blockchain can sort things out. In my own opinion, the blockchain technology can be a big leap for humanity but still this is not the cure-all for all the ailments humanity can be into.

I agree, every inventions have its pros & cons but I think it's a good start with blockchain as to help lessen such issues.

There's no doubt that blockchain technology is a superb development in our modern internet world where in just a click almost everything is possible. However, at its young age and some resistance on the government, the reality of full capability is still far from reality. Some sectors were able to see weak spots on this technology considering this is all online transactions and without central authority.

In short, blockchain technology is not that perfect. Though it's a great technology.

It depends on the situation, but yes there are many cases where blockchain makes sense. Your example idea looks interesting, but there are many gotchas regarding privacy, so it depends how it is implemented. Usually the needs of a government are not the same as of an individual.

I think voting is a very good place to try, as long as people can maintain their identities secret, and yet not allow someone to posses more than one. Or you must surrender to the idea that you will know the identity of each of your assigned keys but yet unable to know how each voted, just that they voted or not...

Yes i'd like to see some real world implementations of blockchain elsewhere.

that is not how blockchain or banks or government work! none of them have anything to do with "passwords and personal information"! banks hold and control your money, and governments snoops around in your personal affairs. and blockchain is just a public ledger that holds transaction history protected by cryptography. it is not supposed to hold your passwords or personal information.

it is apparent that you are hyped up about something you don't understand. blockchain is not even good for those things such as medical records,... it is not efficient and there are a lot of other better ways.
I guess opinions differ on this matter. Blockchain voting systems already exist and have even been tested in some places, if I am not mistaken. What Blockchain adds to the voting system is inability of faking the votes or voting more than once. As for medical records, I found the following article interesting: https://www.computer.org/publications/tech-news/research/blockchain-health-medical-records-cloud-security. It explores the pros and cons, eventually concluding that it probably makes more sense to store the data off-chain but the hashes on-chain.
Blockchain might not be the best solution, but in many cases it's a viable one.

@pooya87 You forgot adding the visibility of information.
@OP, any information that you put up on a public blockchain would be visible to the whole world.
Anybody who access the blockchain will be able to see all the information you put up there. Just in case you think of adding "password and personal information" on the blockchain(again, this is not possible as blockchain is not meant for this) you might just want to rethink.

Blockchain is not a perfect solution. Because blockchain has not yet become like the bank's online account. Online accounts are under the highest security. We can not avail all the benefits if we want blockchain. But blockchain is a bit more useful because it is very easy to use.
So in the future, the blockchain will be more perfect.

Thank You

i think blockchain is the perfect solution for replacing transactions via fiat because the blockchain offers many things such as easy access to the blockchain as well as confidentiality of identity will be very safe

Blockchain technology is a great tool looking at the use case it tends to provide but i don't think we can call it all perfect yet. It's too young for that as this technology is still undergoing several scrutiny and upgrades. It's feature of providing full transparency on any blockchain network it's pretty awesome but we are still fighting with its decentralization as most blockchain networks are not fully decentralized. Let's hope the future turns out great for this technology or it may be discarded just like other technologies that have been abandoned before.

they are all possible things, the blockchain is the technology of the future, intermediaries are eliminated and the data are certain visible to all, is the right path for a future in which we will have complete control of our funds (of our lives?)...
There is transparency in using blockchain technology which people are preferred to use it.  Some of big companies are using it already and it is possible that the others players will do the same. It takes time to be finally adopted cause it is not a simple adjustments and it needs to set everything especially for it's security.

.. that is not how bitcoin and financial instituations works you mean.

blockchains DO NOT have to be limited to 'transaction history'

a blockchain could easily hold a publickey and a social scurity number
1P0oy487Addr355 : SS xxxxxxxx
then when signing into any service, you dont need stord 'passwords' on institutions. you simply need to sign a message using ur key

EG imagine your with bank of america, and you have your bank account linked to ur social security number
bank of america log-in screen
"please paste signed message of: B0A ssxxxxxxxx May42019 rand:6852455"

now by pasting in a signed message. you have not revealed the private key (your control) but you have proved your identity to log into your account

Blockchain has important use cases, such as in providing security and transparency in transactions. However, the mistake some people make is in thinking that absolutely every bit of data must be on a blockchain. This is why there are so many centralized ICOs: people want to take businesses that could be run using a traditional database and capitalize on the idea that it's somehow better on a blockchain. So, to sum it up, yes, blockchain is a great solution for money, but it's not the best solution for other types of data necessarily.

For the next generations the blockchain technology is a solution.
We need a lot of time for the blockchain mass adoption however. The young generation is exposed in this ecosystem but the elderly still haven't discover the decentralized world. Having said that, there are still people who do not want the blockchain technology to be omnipresent due to the fact that there are still different target groups that needs to be served.
