Personally I like decentralised social networks users can really benefit from it from being compensated from everything they do on the network. Unlike the existing social media giants that only the company are harvesting the benefits of selling users data.

Social media such as Facebook and Twitter don't seem to need to be associated with crypto let alone use the paid concept to every user, brands don't need crypto to increase revenue. It is precisely crypto that should be grateful and in need of social media, if social media migrates with a paid crypto system I think people will look elsewhere, and that is a disadvantage for the social media products.
Steemit, this is indeed one type of social media but it is very far compared to Facebook and Twitter.

Facebook, Instagram and Twitter become my social media networks every day and get lots of information. If social media is replaced by crypto social media, in my opinion it is very difficult and cannot be compared. Everyday social media is not the same as crypto social media. I will not switch. crypto social media is just additional information.

Personally, I think many here have not explored very well what currently exists that can work, at least they are social media based on blockchain or tokenized, have somewhat limiting issues, for example there are platforms that are oriented exclusively to a niche or theme:

Steemit is not the best social platform really, 3 years there, and my vision change radically, there is a kind of dictatorship by those who have stake, also by those witness who become bullies, is a proof of fame, are currently killing those who make use of bid bots, after 2 years, almost 3, that the system was absurdly profitable and that kept users who do not get rewards but wanted to be trennding, monetize in steemit is, to be lucky for many, for those who understood the system was to make a project, a trail, ask for delegations, and interact with the really famous users, in the meetups, or steemfest, and obviously talk about how much you do for the ecosystem, here the best part is taken by the developers, although they placed projects that plundered steem, like dlive (which became linen), they had big delegations, and so, there have been plagiers and thugs as well, scammers, of everything on the platform, whale egos warfare, fights between communities that some seem more political parties, leaders of communities that don't move masses, but make a profit boasting of being leaders, getting advantage of such an image, most users are not so committed to the platform, the other is that each hardfork that passes, becomes more and more complex, new concepts, new ways which frightens new users, in the personal steemit as blog does not really work today, better is dtube, vymm, or use dapps of the blockchain de steem, my 3 cents.

Large community, active members, popular, will surely become a potential land for the development of cryptocurrency. The existence of a large supporting network is one of the keys to the success of the project informing market capacity. Moreover, it relates to everyday life, where modern humans make it to actualize themselves. If Facebook and Instagram as one of the popular social media today are able to innovate by utilizing cryptocurrency to improve their performance and services, of course it will be good news. Let's wait for the development of Facebook next year.

Social media projects are not very a trend for this year because many social media projects are almost the same and there is no unique innovation from them.
Facebook launches Libra Either they will be successful or not. If success could be they will later be the trend of social media project on Facebook is the largest social media in the world.

Steemit has made the lead in this niche. They were the earliest who came out creating their own token for their site. And who will forget Telegram (GRAM) with its billion-worth ICO? Telegram has now the highest worth of this kind of company who turned into tokenizing their services as their way of joining the crypto trend.

I think it is not material to me whether the site is crypto-powered or not. Convenience has to be the first consideration. I am using the social media sites where my friends are.

Social media is very powerful and I have no doubts about that. Among billions of people living in the world only few percent are not into social media those probably old and dont have resources to do so. In crypto space its the same, many projects are incorporating blockchain tech into social app and platform cause they know people will use and try it. Like what Libra is trying to accomplish. I guess many platform will come out soon related to social media, but I like steemit one of my favorite platform for content and social related blockchain.

Yeah there are few of them that grows continuously and the number of their customers is keep on increasing but changing the lifestyle of others is very difficult especially if they have no knowledge in crypto currencies then they won't bother in learning about the crypto powered social networks.

But those crypto lovers, they all know how useful the crypto powered social network especially if you are looking for an updated news about crypto,you have services that is related to crypto and you are a marketing official in crypto community.

I think Steemit should continue to do well, theres a few projects trying to copycat it, but it seems to be keeping ahead, it has alot of development time into it
It will be interesting to see what thing the next generation in 5 years will get into, as facebook is losing popularity day by day, will future social media platforms always be decentralized in the future?

In my opinion it is very difficult to switch to crypto social networks. Because social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram have become an important part of daily life to get information and social relationships with friends and distant relatives. The crypto social network will probably only become one of the backup social media that allows us to find out news about cryptocurrency problems that occur and will not be the main social network, but still useful.

Social media is a fast tool to apply the state of self. Whether it's just writing status, uploading photos and videos, or just looking at someone else's.
I think it's too far behind if crypto makes a social network application because there are so many out there. If it is coupled with the lure of getting free coins, I think social media will only be temporarily crowded because if the coin distribution is used up, the social media will be abandoned. Except for social media which provides broad insights such as, publish0x, steemit, medium, etc. Because there we can read something useful and of course we also write something there.

I don't know if I will be switching to other social media or blogging platform just because they are new. I mean does it make sense to break what you have been use to?

I'm more of a twitter guy, so I won't simply switch, although you might say that there are incentives to it, but as of know, the pay is still cheap, in my opinion.

There are available in app store. It will depend on how comfortable you are in social media like facebook since its somehow different in format and needs to have feedbacks in quality post or meme you'd share. Most of my friends are not interested in crypto so I still used Facebook and steemit just for some browsing.

I don't think that it's necessarily a trend.

Steemit has been around for a long time now and we don't really see it blooming into anything major any time soon. It is way past its previous identity as one of the top altcoins, and the hype has died down very much.

I think that the reason why people used to hype up this kind of project so much is due to the fact that it generated profit for those who used it. But right now, there is no more free money to be had in crypto winter.

No i won't switch yet because there isn't yet any credible alternative to existing social media sites.

Steemit is the leader (yes I have seen publish0x but it is nowhere near as good) but it is plagued by:

1) primarily the early distribution went to a few whales who would only upvote their own friends and countrymen. Basically, everyone writes there to try to grab whales' attention. Owners of Steemit destroyed it before they could even develop it further.

2) also it needs some moderation, the categories are awful.

Honestly, it would not be difficult to make a competitor that could dominate the market.

In my opinion, social media has great potential in the internet world. With social media, people will find it easy to trade and many new projects want to take this opportunity. If they are able to attract just 5% of the population, they will get more than 100 million members and this is a huge economic potential.

indeed many people still use social media to spread information about cryptocurrency as often happens in many Twitter like that, even though like that in social media I only see the cryptocurrency information available so that I can know the development of a coin also on Twitter.

It will only depend how the platform can get the attention of the users. There are many social media attempt before that you can earn $ but not crypto  related,but they failed to make it more popular to users. Users only use the platform to make money and not to use it as a regular social platform and that was the problem of that idea.

Why not there has been a lot of attempt in the past and some of them have done crowdfunding, we are a growing community, and we need interaction because  we are  already mainstream, maybe we can have something like Facebook and not only forum, I am more than willing to switch because I don't like the so many fake news and fake advertisement and our data being exploited by sites like Facebook.
