It looks like that. eBay is a very big shopping platform. By accepting the cryptocurrencies on its platform, i think there will be definitely an increase in its number of customers who use cryptocurrencies as a payment method.

This announcement was made sometimes ago but I don't think Ebay is really serious about it at all as no developments has been made about this. Some other marketplaces have also announced their will to accept cryptocurrencies but no efforts have been put into this. Anyway, if all these marketplaces are to come together and accept cryptocurrencies it would really help in the adoption and use of cryptocurrencies.

There was a time when most of the bitcoin mining rigs were sold on eBay and there were a lot of sales because of cryptocurrency involvement in eBay. now they are taking this huge step toward the shopping world which has a lot of potential growth of users in the next years. as eBay started accepting crypto payments more and more players are gonna play with eBay.

This ads don't look very convincing to me so it could be just fake news.
On the other hand there were roomors before on such initiatives taken by eBay. It would really be a big step if they start to accept Bitcoin and that would certainly encourage many other merchants to do the same. But like I said this ads don't look to me as they were real.

We don't know the truth, and we could only wait for the update from eBay.
If they really accept cryptocurrency on their site, then it will bring a new spirit for cryptocurrency because we know that eBay is one of the largest markets which have big members who join in that site.
Besides that, if eBay can accept cryptocurrency, the other big market will try to follow what eBay did, and that will help the process of adoption will happen more widely.

It sure looks like it. Then again, those are billboard-style ads at a cryptocurrency conference. Technically, anyone could have bought the ad space and put eBay's name up. I wouldn't be surprised if eBay denies the rumors.

That anyone probably has a motive then, it could be to kickup the investors to but cryptocurrencies in the market. It would be good to heard some news from ebay, their dying marketplace could once again be busy if its true. Adoption should really start with the known marketplace in the world, either ebay or amazon and facebook as it would be easy for almost all of us already have accounts.

They have denied involvement getting into having any cryptocurrency as payment for goods on their site.

As for the signage. I have seen this plain logo before without the different colors but they could be false advertisement just like those at the crypto conference where they debuted.
It's safe to say that the people behind the Consensus event used a generic logo to avoid legal actions against them from eBay.

This sets a pretty bad precedent on the event, and maybe even on other crypto events, as some people will now doubt the authenticity of any news/announcements coming from them, people will now think they're nothing but fake news. I don't remember the last time a cryptocurrency event used the name of a big company to try to manipulate the market...Shitty move from Consensus.

That ebay logo is odd but if it was a hoax they would announce it way before now. I can't agree is it real or fake. If it is real that would be great news for cryptoworld.

First, this news came out, i thought utrust will get used (they also said big announcement coming, and this is what basically do) but they announced something else.

After a second look, it's an obvious fake.

Here's eBay's real logo:

And here's the logo from the ads:

These cryptocurrency conferences are mostly just attention grabs and marketing gimmicks, so it doesn't surprise me that people engage in this sort of manipulation.

This is really interesting. I hope that an official statement coming from eBay will be published soon to confirm or to dispel this rumor. Anyway, if this is just a rumor we can not expect people from eBay to have the time to react to this. So the bottomline here is we just have to wait for anything official. Now, if this is just another fake marketing tactic then it got the attention that it wanted in the first place so congratulations to these marketers.

Looking in this side and there’s no formal information about this one and eBay doesn’t make any statement about this rumor. You know if this thing happen then expect a more expensive bitcoin its a big company with a great technology, cryptocurrency is a good addition to them.

We can't say that it's real unless we'll hear their announcement. It's an exciting thing if it's true but I don't think they would post such photo to spread rumours. News could be deceiving sometimes so we have to be observant and keen before we believe.

This is great news that can introduce cryptocurrency to the masses. The current growth is not casual.

I think this year many will introduce cryptocurrency.

They have to be accepting new cryptocurrencies on their platform. If eBay is a virtual auction platform which lets you list anything and everything you want then I am sure that they will accept any type of cryptoasset as well.

eBay would be a welcome addition of a list of marketplace accepting cryptocurrency. Certainly, this can be a big boost most especially to Bitcoin though it remains to be seen if there can be a good volume of business that cryptocurrency can command. Now, we are also hoping that after eBay it would be Amazon which can take notice and be enticed to join the Bitcoin club. As they say, the more the merrier and in the quest for massive cryptocurrency adoption, this bit of news is offering hope and possibility for that vision.

PayPal work separately from Ebay for already a long time, which IMHO makes the whole story more realistic because in that case ebay would be able to provide their own policy regarding crypto payments.
But anyway even if they accept crypto payments then it would rather be something like BitPay where you would be able to fund your fiat account with crypto without any massive bitcoin movement.

It's actually the first time that I have heard about the news.
Honestly, I'm not well-convinced with that photo. I'm sure that they would launch and announce it first.
It's still a good news and adoption for Bitcoin if ever but it is still early to conclude. A lot of things might still happen in the future.
