no way, i don't bother mining bitcoin anymore....  Undecided

just investing.....

This.

Bought 2 BFL jalapenos (total cost $355 including shipping and customs). Preordered Sept2012, received in mid-July2013.  Total mined about $700 worth of BTC, sold them for a total of $1300. Investment: $355. ROI: $2000. Profit: $1645.

Now I'm out of mining, and just speculating/investing and getting more into precious metals (particularly silver).

So, if you have used the money to buy bitcoin in Sep 2012, it was around $20, you would have bought 17.75 BTC, if you sell it around Apr 2013, not at the pick, let's say $200, you would have made $3550, $3195 profit.

BFL really sucks...

yeah, but still better than losing money.  unlike a lot of people i don't count "money i didn't make, but could have made IF..." as a loss.

But it's a lesson learned...

Oh, absolutely. A valuable lesson. Right up there with "never get involved in a land war in Asia" and "never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line"
Well this first one is true, but it did not go well for the Sicilian did it?

Love that movie.

If i put 3 grand for a CPU graphic card mining rig , would i be able to get my cost back in half year?

If you buy used components then you can resell it back later without big loss. And GPU profitability depends on your electricity cost   Wink

Impossible to know unless you tell us the hashing power of the rig and what coins you are mining. If you have free electricity, then profitability depends on cost, hashing power, and difficulty, and nothing else.

Mine litecoins with gpu and mine bitcoins with asic on same machine.  There will not be any quick profits any more unless you can get the newest asic miner before everyone else to have the advantage in hash power.  Since we are on the noob boards it probably wont happen.

ASICs are not proper for individuals to mine

explain please , also im a qualified micro components electrician so please explain why Asic is no good ?

Nothing to do with the tech.
Buy one at $30 start mining get a few mBTC over time difculty goes up to the point you are making .00000001 BTC a week.

Total value of BTC mined at that point $17.00.

So you paid $30 to get $17. That is not good.

So you paid $30 to have fun playing with drivers, mining programs and chatting on boards like this.
And you get paid back $17 that is good.
