It is very necessary, because there are lot people want to try before deposit some bitcoin
But, some smart & luck people use faucet to get a lot of bitcoin (last time i have seen a people made 999 satoshi to 0.03 BTC  Shocked)

And don't give faucet amount too big (maximum 250 satoshi), because they don't want to deposit  Sad

it attracts people and give something to people to start, but also attracts people only because of the faucet, that won't make bets with their own money.

it is your choice

Some people get hooked to sites because of faucets and then use their own money to gamble. It is the prime reason for sites to offer faucets.

those people you're referring are very small group though

I'm making a simple dice game with php, i'm thinking about implement faucet but I don't know if its necessary.

Should I add it? If i add i will give 250 sat/10 min or like this.

Is your site going to have a chat?  If it is, then you may want a faucet to cut down on begging in chat and gives people something to play while they hang out.  Pocketdice has a faucet but no chat.

Be careful of botters.  Captcha's can be defeated, just ask Stunna.

Sites like Primedice recently debated if they should keep the faucets on the site. Seems, they took the decision to continue keeping the faucets. One thing faucets guarantee is traffic on the site. Most of the members on chat at primedice, are just there chatting and having fun with the faucet.

A valuable addition to a site if not neccessary
It keeps users attracted to it and gets some supporters going for it

Faucet definitely attracts more people. Some of them later deposit and play there. It also keeps the site much more active, and its basically free money for people, so they can easily build it up. I have built around 0.0001 faucet to 0.03 before, and it always feels great to do so.

nope, faucet only invites bot users, beggars, spammers, and some small decent players. thats why most dice sites remove their faucet after launching

Sort of.
In fact, Stunna has also been thinking about removing the faucet on Primedice due to overwhelming support emails about the faucet and chat spamming. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.9172376

heard about that and yeah stunna will highly likely going to remove it coz most players are faucet users and it will eat the sites profit

faucet is a good start for newbie to play to gambling site

If the system provably fair,
then let's hope that someone will make more deposit into your site

If you want to prevent someone to abuse the faucet, just make a min wager to WD or something

Think of it this way when someone has no bitcoin, it will keep them there and add traffic to your site.

Is it a must? No, a number of sites are or were working well and successfully without a faucet.
But having a faucet will help you get more users, especially for a new site.

I like the idea of a faucet, but honestly if you're making it so small I don't see it paying off...it won't keep people's interest.  If it's going to be 250 satoshis you've gotta make it every 2 mins. or something.

I think faucets attract a certain kind of player you don't necessary want on your site. PrimeDice has a faucet and lowering the faucet brought out a high shit storm mainly by the begging kind that doesn't even deposit at all. JustDice had 0BTC bets to try out the site and they did just fine without.

edit: Rather than thinking about a faucet think about the reason why people would want to visit your site instead of a competitor's. Try to provide value for your customer.

I believe it is necessary from a marketing point of view. It pulls gamblers in to try your site. The competition is tough and every tiny edge counts. Most faucet on gambling sites only pays out when a player has low balance. With 0.0001 transaction fees and minimum withdraw limit of 0.001, you wouldn't loose much on the faucet anyway.

Couldnt agree more.

I think you will find that the faucet directly translates to more players and a higher profit for a relatively small investment.

Youll need a good fair game however to keep the players.
