I think gambling has the potential to do either. If you win a lot, and cash out at the right time, you will have profited, and gambling will have fixed or helped your life. But if you lose, which a lot of people do, gambling can wreck or ruin your life.
Of course it has the potential to do either simply because theres only two result after you gamble. Its either you win or lose. Just prepare yourself for the result.
