Good leader is the fighting of corruption because whenever you have a good leader then there are things to fight against.
For instance like my country with what is going on presently we are suffering for a bad leader since they don't care about their citizens rather looking for a way to enrich their love ones and family, so we have a good leader there won't be any corruption nor looting and hodl our currencies.
With good leaders at least 78 percentage of corruption would be eliminated from the country and change the country for good.

I think only the citizens of the country needs to help themselves and stop thinking selfish about your gains in just the moment you are in..

Corruption is like a virus that needs the right vaccine to cure and it's to be giving to everyone not just some,  if not it continues spreading

Even with good leadership, corruption will still exist if the citizens are not honest and selfish. Therefore, it starts with ourselves; we should have discipline and selflessness to help others and improve our country's economy. In our country, I noticed in the past administration that corruption has lessened since the president was really into corruption. However, they still found that there are still corrupt officials in government, so it is difficult to zero out the corruption.

Well, the answer to this question can never be a simple yes or no. It all depends. Corruption exists almost in every society and we can conclude that this is rooted in our human nature. It's part of our nature to take more while giving less or none. Apart from this, the biggest external reason is culture/tradition in diferent society. If corruption is viral in a dictator-ship society, then a great leader is needed and can absoulty control or at lest contain corruption situation. In contrast, if corruption goes wild in a so-called democratic society, a good leader can help very little. That's the truth.

I am asking based on the country where i come from. It's sad to say no one cares about doing it right anymore, everyone is carried away by what the stand to gain, their immediate benefit not minding the impact in the near future.

In a country where everyone is been monetised and selfishly driven will good governance be enough to fight corruption. I ask this because it has gone beyond the sphere of the political stakeholder as it dwells even in the cabal of almost every citizen. making good governance will require stepping on toes.

By 2023 there will be a transition of power and if the choice of the people eventually emerges as the winner, following the current state of an entire country i ask will good leadership be enough to fight corruption in a country where everyone is corrupt?

In my opinion, not just good leadership but educating people is also an essential factor. This is because leadership icons cannot alonely fight against corruption. It's also the people who can help out the government to fight against corruption.

Solely good leadership is not enough to fight corruption,  when all the sectors and institutions that are working in a country are working fairly and are working for benefit of people than that country can fight corruption.  If your institutions are corrupt than a good leader cannot do anything.  Following rules and regulations,  having proper and strict accountability is essential for fighting corruption.

Every good leadership will fight corruption because it prevents government policies from running smoothly. Remember that the country, that is Nigeria, you are referring to had its president picked on the believe that he Buhari was going to fight corruption. But the president disappointed everyone by not fighting it. Instead his government became worse than the one before him. Corruption is worse under Buhari and that is one of the things that has marked his government as a bad one.

We need Trump back, to get rid of the gross corruption of the Democrat leaders and Biden.

Cool

Americans now know the value of Donald Trump. They wanted him out and found weak Joe to replace him but they soon found out it was a bad exchange. I hope Trump runs in the next election. Americans are like Nigerians who wanted Jonathan out for Buhari who has now proven to be worse than Jonathan.

Not meaning to make this post a Trump thing, but, Trump's rallies for the 2020 election had hundreds of thousands of people. Biden's rallies only had hundreds if that. Something other than the people got Biden elected... corruption.

Consider the following about how corruption works.

----------

Consider a group of people in the middle of thousands of acres of land, where there is no other government than what they set up.

Since they are families who are all friends, they don't really need a government, because they all work together.

But with any group, there is a thief among their group. But he gets caught, and is punished by the group, or expelled from the group.

The thief realizes he needs help. So, he carefully looks for and finds other people who would like to be thieves, as well. They organize into a band that raids and steals property from the group of people.

After a bunch of raids, the people get together and form a temporary government for the purpose of fighting the band of thieves. They do this, and have success at overcoming the thieves, and even executing some of them. But a few get away.

Now, there is a shrewd joker among the group of people. He would like to be a thief, but is too smart, knowing what the people will do to him when he is caught. So, he talks the other people into keeping the little government that they set up to fight the thieves.

This shrewd guy talks the people into letting him be leader, because nobody else really wants to do it. As time goes on, and the group grows, this shrewd leader quietly introduces banking and taxes, which are really unnecessary. He skims off the top and lives the easy life, being supported by the others.

Well, that's all that the original thief wanted... to live the easy life being supported by others. But the shrewd joker found a way to do it that seemed logical to the people, but really wasn't necessary.

----------

Corruption generally becomes something substantial through people who want to be leaders.

If the leader are good and really good indeed then they will go against every possible means to corruption and tackles it, fight it and go after building an atmosphere to fareness in the government and people will have no option left than to follow suit with the steps of the foundation the leaders have created already, some countries have engage on an evolution in fighting this corrupt practices but this may involve lifes but the best way to tackle this is to start from the top, then every other aspect will remain under control by going against any corrupt practices.

It's hard to get good leaders especially in the area the op used as a case study and personally, someone who is greedy and money driven would find it hard to perform satisfactorily to the public. Let me use one of the leaders of the African countries as an instance, particularly, Nigeria.

The past President had a good leadership and it was stated that the people enjoyed during his rule but there was still corruption. To actually suggest what then can save a country who is drenched in corruption is hard.

Good leadership alone is not enough, the leader must be fair, wise, and firm.

because the leader affects all aspects of a country, so being good is not enough, it must be supported by a firm and honest attitude.

because in my country it is the same, corruption is still rampant.

Yes good leadership can fight corruption. A good government will make sure that everybody he is working with is having the zeal to fight corruption and anybody that goes against this aim should be punished severely. Supremacy of law will be put to practice,i.e nobody is above the law and anybody caught will face the wrath of the law, so that everybody can be cautious of any corrupt activities which they are carrying out.

Good leadership will always carry the people along and share the resources of the state to everybody, where there will be no partial, meaning they will carter for the citizens, these will also reduce corruption, since the people see a sense of belonging to the government.

I just wish that most government leaders and officials are like-minded with the leaders and authorities of Japan. Why? Because if their name is involved with corruption and anomalies, they're the ones to judge themselves and they can't take the shame that they'll bring to themselves and to their family's reputation, and the worst is they're the ones taking their own lives. It's being committed to the oath of public service and means that they won't allow any corruption to touch their hands.

Good leadership is very important for the prosperity and development of ant country either its moral development or economic development but I think that only good leadership is not enough to fight corruption.  Corruption can only be fought by all the institutions that are working in any country, the check and balance system, the accountability, the law and order .
So shortly everything counts if a leader is successful to check and controll all the institutions then he can fight corruption.

I think this is a question that we should all ask ourselves that are we not corrupt also, this our leaders we have been talking about does not cone from another planet, they were our brothers and sisters we are used to, not until we begin to exercise self discipline to caution our moral lifestyle in pride, greediness, selfishness and uncontempted spirit that leads to the corruption we are talking about, they leaders not just start misbehaving as they like, it all started from somewhere the place on negligence in showing discipline, the solution to the problems we are all facing today lies in our own hands.

For a country to succeed, it needs to get rid of corrupt practices in her government. Getting rid of it, won't be that easy cause because her system of government is so corrupt that it has eaten so deep into the country that in some way or another her citizens have indirectly gained or partaken in it. When the head is corrupt it affects the body.

The year 2023 is the year for Nigerians to make it right by voting against all her political corrupt leaders sitting at the horns of the affairs of the country.
This is the challenge most countries are going through,  the system is so currupt that if a good leader who is willing  to fight corruption the bad leaders will try to frustrate it. It is not easy to fight corruption because it is not only a president that is corrupt, it is all over the system.

Good leadership is not enough to fight corruption. They need honesty in carrying out their assigned tasks, especially when it comes to people. Every state official has been sworn not to break the rules, but because of their greedy nature, they break them and even try to gain more power.

If honesty is still not with them, the government will still be corrupt and try to control everything, even if it means they will hurt the people.

According to you, good leadership is not enough, leaders need honesty to fight corruption but they are not honest. They lie and they break the rules which they make. All the things you said are true, but when we talk about honesty, honesty is a key attribute of a good leader. If there is good leadership, that means there is honesty. If there is no honesty, it means the goodness is not upto the standard in this context. That is something I want to point out.

Good leadership is not enough to fight corruption, accountability, rules and regulations, check and balance are extremely important to fight this disease named corruption. Country can only prosper if their leaders are fair and honest and have a good insight of all the current issues with solutions in their region. It is very important that all the Institutions are working for the welfare of their country not for benefit of any particular person۔

Good leaders are good. But there will be more and more corrupt people day by day. If the leader is kind and considerate and firm, towards his subordinates, it will certainly make corruptors more afraid of corruption.

So basically, a good leader is also firm with his subordinates, will definitely reduce corruption, because they are afraid of a firm leader.

His subordinates must also be aware that their corruption will make everyone suffer.

Every country corrupt, and no country is exempted but how the leaders conduct themselves is the issue or matter here. You should not be sad because the information of corruption was given to them (the leaders) by the people who rules them (the leaders) at the 1900 to 1979. Your country is a selfcentric country in which everyone care for themselves not not others, and that is the opposite of selflessness from the TOPIC in VALUE in Civic Education. Good leader can not fight corruption if all the citizens are corrupt but I don't think that all the citizens can corrupt in a country but those who not corrupt can fight against the large number of the corrupt people. In any country, the elites control the system. That is where substructure and superstructure comes to play. I have mentioned these concepts in one of my thread. 2023 is the year Nigeria is electing her new president. The youth is ready to vote for Peter Obi because he is seen as a good  leader for them but the elites will decide who will become the president in the country. Who are the ELITES?
