Has the spread between stamp and Gox ever been so big??? Is this effectively a run on the Bitcoin bank, desperate buys fleeing to Bitcoin and heading for the btc-e and bitstamp hills?Huh

the spread was about $200 at some point today between gox and all other exchanges. Fireworks coming. Get your popcorn ready.

RIP Gox in 2014, its easy to see this company is in a nosedive and the pilot, Mark Karpeles, is asleep at the wheel

Spread between Bitstamp and Gox currently 22.5%.

stamp and btce reluctantly being pulled north. I am surprised so many large buys on those exchanges..... this seems like major drama to me.

This is what you don't see happening but what is going on on a daily basis. A build up of money and new accounts on the exchanges waiting for a chance to buy in. There is a whole lot more waiting still. You can't see this by looking at the order books by the way.

so how do you see it?

I actually completely believe that there are millions sitting there waiting to buy. However, the strength, momentum, volume, price pressure necessary to move those dollars into Bitcoin has proven to be hard to come by as everyone is waiting for cheaper coins.

I think you will not see fiat holder capitulation until north of 1300.

Most people tend to think a little further than just a simple price target.

You can't really underestimate the power the China FUD has been holding over people ever since the beginning of December 2013. That is set to lift as next week progresses. This is a major shift in sentiment.

Well I try not to be optimistic with any of my investments as it serves me little purpose, but heck who am I to complain because I loaded up on BTC this month.

Why would gox pull the plug if it went to $10,000?

All they would make is more fees which will help their banking problem, he has no reason to pull the plug.

I withdrew BTC from Gox few days ago and there was no delay at all.

I did the same today. No complaints at all.

At what time did you withdraw? My withdrawal request went 3 hours ago and still not processed.

I had read several complaints about BTC withdrawals taking longer than normal during the last days,
in the Service discussion section. Good to know that it's not a problem today.

Don't know if you're watching but there are "desperate" buys on Stamp and Btc-e at the moment as well!

I am watching but Gox has leaped to near 1000 again and stamp and btc didn't care until the last hour. I think they are watching Gox and are thinking they are missing the train, but the fact they did nothing for 8 hours tells me Gox is become a joke almost overnight.

Gox has not been leaping anywhere for hours. It is BTC-e that just leaped by a long way. Here's the chart for you: http://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/btce/btcusd

Gox goes from 950-981 in the last 8 hours and BTCE actually tests 790 in the same window.... uhhhh

BTC-e up $33 in 2 hours. There's the leap for you.

Like I said, BTC-e and stamp ignored Gox for hours, and then responded.  Thanks for repeating my post.

BTC-e is not watching Gox. They are much larger than Gox. Everybody knows where the action is these days. They have known for a long time. The "Gox imploding" theme is tired already!

What may be happening is more players cashing out of Gox via bitcoins. And arbitrage isn't working at all, even via JPY.
There is a small delay (possibly 1 - 2 days) in receiving bitcoins from Gox, so this means that Gox has to get bitcoins from cold storage.
This lead to a strange situation, where Gox looks bullish, while other exchanges do not.

I had ZERO delay in moving Bitcoin out of Gox. In fact moving Bitcoin out of Gox while I used it for two months was much faster than any other exchange.

So unless something has changed in the last week the lag should still be zero. I don't think Bitcoin withdrawal time has much at all to do with what we are observing. I think Gox users are sick of holding fiat and know they can't move it, so they are buying bitcoin and moving to cold storage or another exchange, like i did... a couple of weeks ago.

EDIT:

The bigger the gap grows the more desperate GOX buying will become. At least that is why I Bitcoined out of Fiat when I did.
