I think ico now contains a lot of lending programs where it's like a matrix and ponzi scheme. So, be carefull if you want invest in ico.

No I don't think it's like that at all and silly to compare. I is crowdfunding like Kickstarter. You don't have to support to see how it goes and they promise you nothing unlike HYIP that promise you the world and more.

ico is an analogue of ipo only in the crypto-currency world, I think ico are not HYIPs. The purpose of HYIPs is only to raise money they do not have any product.

maybe it is more like gambling than HYIP because the investors don't know if the project will success on market or not and they decide it by themself. so it is more like gambling for me. different with trade

It was so but anymore not if you look at a website that lists all current and upcoming icos you can see a lot of icos which you have not heard about them ever and most ones raise too little money even if they make advertisements, bounty campaigns etc.

Yes, that's why they are offering bonus, referrals, and paying for advertisement via some of their tokens..
In case, if they do not get enough fund they expected what will happen to the project?  Huh
what will happen to the investors who invested already?  Huh
what will happen if they start the project with not enough fund?  Huh

For me personally, it depend on who is behind the ICO.

If it is someone with a proven track record, like Vitalik Buterin or Dan Larimer running a new ICO, I don't really question it much, I will invest in it without problem.

But if it is some no name person running a new ICO, then I would need the following:
* real identity of team members
* show me a working prototype of product or proof of concept
* show me how the ICO token will be used, eg. how would my investment be rewarded, why would the token become valuable

I think as long as you exercise caution, you won't be scammed.

This is true.. still the profit is uncertain and do not know when it will give you the profit.
But this is the way to filter the scams.. and I do not think this is possible to a common man

Many ICO are popping up every minutes nowadays.

In their site they are showing a team and a project plan then asking for us to invest there.
My gut feeling says many of this will turn scam or we will not get a good return.
Just like HYIPs.

What is the difference between these too many new ICO and HYIP?
There is a lot of possibility to a HYIP admin can create an ICO site.

What do you guys think?

============Adding:
ICO have referral program
Bonus
High return promise
And promise for stability even before start.
-- Just sounds like HYIP?

And, many senior members are advising here 'do not invest an amount that you do not afford to loose' in ICO
That is the moto or slogan, footer note or desclimer of all the HYIP projects.

In my opinion, it's clearly different on ICO and HYIP. We will receive fixed interest on HYIP and HYIP have a plan to invest like 1 day, 1 week, 1 month. On the other hand, investment on ico is not have fixed interest and also we receive a coin for our investment that we can trade in the future. well, not all ico have referral program and investing on ICO is more better and safety than invest on HYIP.

in my opinion, there is not much difference in hyip and ico as hyip ask you for a guaranteed returns but never fulfill their terms as mentioned and closed any time and in ico, you have to put money for listing and future gains on faith on their white papers, but nothing assured.

I think this is a "guarantee" issue because neither can guarantee that the money we invest will come back, depending on the team and project they are working on. But in this case I prefer ICO, because they have a more clear project.

First of all, Hyip is a scam, sooner or later they stop paying and your investment will be gone. ICO's never promise anything and it greatly depends on the team and their vision of a token. Most of them are just made to scam people but some of them got tremendous support.
First of all most of the hyip already running by a single person, if you are comparing the ico and hyip and why try not to compare the trading and hyip because through the trade you want to get the profit and you hope that you can make it as fast as possible. This is the game of money.

ICO's have very little (if anything in common) with HYIP's. The reason you're seeing so many is because it's been proven that people will just throw their eth at almost any half baked project. This doesn't mean that ALL projects are lacking quality but the environment does attract a lot of opportunists. We're honestly probably in a bubble and who knows how long it will last. Could be week or years but it's definitely something worth taking advantage of IMO.
