May be yes, may be no , because sometimes after exchanging, if price increases, we regret it. But we cannot deny the fact that changing to dollar or any currency, other than cryptocurrency, we can be free from the fear of falling prices or losses.
Everything depends on what you want to do, so if you have another investment in the sights, sometimes it is better to change it to FIAT, for example, investing in real state or some fund in which you want to participate, if you just want to change coin, then I think that BTC and Ripple are your best options.
Yess, for sure exchanging is better. I mostly change all my crypto coins and tokens first to ETHEREUM and then to our national currency . With this i am assured of the safery of my money without any alteration and risk of loosing.
if the altcoin that I hold can be exchanged for a currency in my country, then I will exchange it directly, because my currency is not a dollar so I rarely exchange it, so I trade it for bitcoin

In my idea, its better to change your altcoins now into dollars or fiat since bitcoun now is continuing to go down. The problem if we change it to bitcoin, its very risky now within this type of market.

This will depend on the existing conditions. convert to dollars to meet the needs and security might be better. but to change to a bitcoin can also provide a good thing in the long run. Crypto continues to grow be it for bitcoin and altcoin, so it will continue to be able to provide the impact of profit in the long run.
It would be better if you exchanged coins with BTC. Exchange it to BTC will get a promising development.
