Each of us has a different time zone and it depends on which country we are, I think there's no problem of posting when it is the perfect time of posting. If members are always active they will see a new post even on which board you are and not necessary to know when most people active.

Aside from forum stats, you can also use this to know who's online, how many users online and those users online but hidden profile's online status. https://bitcointalk.org/SSI.php?ssi_function=whosOnline

Personally, I don't log out of my trusted devices and rarely logs in because I don't need to. I'm quite nervous that I may get hacked when I log in (my computer might be compromised), they might get my account in that method. If that's the case, then there would be limited data on the amount of logins/logouts in one account.

Do you guys think it could have an effect as well?

Personally I don't think that is necessary. Since there's already an option to remain logged in, you could always post whenever you need to.

Would there be an effect with the number of online readings an account could give to the forum stats? Like staying logged in or logs in and out? I think there are two different scenarios to think ponder:
  • The Amount of Login and Logout
  • The account that just stays logged in

The information and data given above probably answers your request  Wink What I want to know is why you need to post a thread at that time  Huh Honestly, I think it's unnecessary. Your thread will not be drifted, it can be bumped once a day by yourself, and whenever there is any post in your thread, it will be surfaced  Wink Posting at the time when the most active users are almost unnecessary, because many users are only interested in certain sections.

All data seems to be UTC based (with no off-set). Crossing the above information, although not my preference for a concise taxative answer, I’d say that there’s a good chance that peak time is between 11 and 17 hours UTC, and with a rather equilibrated distribution that does not push one specific hour too far above others.

Going on my own lurking this feels about right. It really tails off around 22-23.00 ish and doesn't pick up until the following morning. I've always found it quite strange how quiet it is when huge chunks of the world should still be popping. Maybe they look to Europeans to keep the party going.

The real Jet Cash.
Good luck with trying to get accurate data. I've got 3 accounts logged in at the moment. Kuffy using Chrome, Jet Cash using Brave, and Baronets using Firefox. I've also got the mobile on charge, and I may have left that logged in. Smiley

There are lies, damned lies and statistics. MTwain
I tried to look at this a couple of ways, knowing that both show likely patterns, but not absolute certainty:

1: Using a full profile end of 2018 database, I checked the “last active” time value (*1):
Code:
hour      nUsers    %Users
0         77509     03,12%
1         78499     03,16%
2         81743     03,29%
3         84893     03,42%
4         87464     03,52%
5         89214     03,60%
6         95897     03,86%
7         104883    04,23%
8         108813    04,39%
9         115833    04,67%
10        114095    04,60%
11        122175    04,92%
12        125387    05,05%
13        122917    04,95%
14        127972    05,16%
15        126029    05,08%
16        124024    05,00%
17        120406    04,85%
18        110827    04,47%
19        106435    04,29%
20        98677     03,98%
21        102024    04,11%
22        81679     03,29%
23        73875     02,98%

Total     2481270   100,00%
I then delimited it to accounts that were exclusively last active during 2018 (to see if there was a difference):
Code:
hour      nUsers    %Users
0         33136     02,62%
1         34703     02,74%

4         42132     03,33%
5         42379     03,35%
6         45500     03,59%
7         51831     04,09%
8         57258     04,52%
9         63324     05,00%
10        60662     04,79%
11        66057     05,22%
12        64116     05,06%
13        65228     05,15%

16        70336     05,55%
17        68597     05,42%
18        59604     04,71%
19        56031     04,42%
20        50140     03,96%

Total     1266403   100,00%

2. Using the time from Merit TXs:

(*1): Not my ideal method, since the parser got a snapshot for every user at a different time, but could serve as an approximation.

(*2): This method is limited though, in the sense that only meriter data is considered (i.e. people who do not merit, merit seldom, or have little meriting power are not represented, or rather partially at best).

You can make a test to determine how many users are currently online by checking https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=stats.
Under General Statistics it says Users Online: 537. This number changes constantly. Check every 3-4 hours for example and save the numbers. Do that a few days in a row and you will probably notice a pattern.

I think the time members are most active is between 04:00 to 13:00 forum time on week days. The activity seems to be less on weekends.
I observed this by
- Number of threads created at different times plus number of topics replied in the boards i usually post
- Number of merits sent (You can barely get merits during other hours however active you are... meaning very few people are active)

I don't have any statistics to back this up because i know nothing about data scrapping. Those have been my observations because i have had a chance to discuss in the forum at different hours of the day

Also, even tho there's a bump button for topics, I think that the bump option isn't available for all topics.

The bump button is not the only way to bump topics. For the rest you have to post something to bump it (but you have to be certain you don't bump too often though).
And explaining clearer your problem will always help you.

Of course, we could just answer "usually about 17-23 GMT" which may be completely wrong since the numbers change while certain regions gain or lose interest. And may not help you at all, since I see the bumping/clarifying option is used by most.

I am guessing the purpose of knowing the time most people are online is to post on those times for better exposure of your topics.....and for higher chances of getting merited. I have only thought of that since you already said that you have no plan to market anything else but I could be wrong of course and I hope that is not the reason.

There is only three important timezone here to consider if you want to catch the majority of user online. Check the night time of EU, US and Asia.
If you want to see the most active users enter this bitcointalk forum, day and night you have to open each user profile that you want to see. online

The time provided in this Forum is the time of the forum, not the time of every country in the world, it is up to you to live in any country.

There are methods used by some managers in this forum to see active members in a matter of time in the world.
For example:

17. ( Please use greenwichmeantime to calculate your local time accordingly).

You can use the method used by: @Coolcryptovator to see what time of day the user enters and is active in the forum.

I'm not sure what you mean about time, but maybe what I explained above can solve your problem.

Thanks a lot! This is very helpful.

Bump is available on these boards:

Service Announcements
Announcements (Altcoins)
Bounties (Altcoins)
Tokens (Altcoins)

All other boards are sorted by last post time.

I wanted to make a post here on the bitcoin forum, but then, I'm confused about when the best time is. I mean, how can one know the time at which users of the bitcointalk forum login most. I don't know if it's possible in any way but it's important tho.

I am not sure why is this so important. I can guess that it would be important for the ones who want to sell something or influence (FUD?).
But this is a discussions forum. So if you ask or say something and it's not answered /discussed quick, you'll bump it or even improve the question / topic.

Thanks for you contribution. I don't have anything to sell. But I want to know the time at which users of the forum login most. Also, even tho there's a bump button for topics, I think that the bump option isn't available for all topics.

I think you want to know this because you are planning to promote something such as project. Bumping thread daily will help to become visible but it will just cause a minor attention.

I suggest that you avail the forum advertisement which will display the project/item that you want to promote on every single thread in this forum.

Logged in time is not the most important thing if you are wondering about potential post views. I often have Bitcoin Talk open in a background browser window for long periods during the day. Viewing time is only a small part of this.
