If you are able to buy the any of the major ones, then do so. There are also a lot of promising new ones, but that's more risky, but also more profitable in case ICO becomes successful.

Those of us who haven't purchased any crypto before, is it too late? Should we even bother trying? I have read the market was falling lately but it seems pretty pumped already. I wonder if there is any room to grow anymore.

Dude there is no term as "TOO LATE" in crypto world especially in exchange because crypto is not stable it goes up and down if you see it pumped already just wait for that time and it will go down again, Professionals in crypto are always happy if its going up and down why? because they always said that "Sell High Buy Low" and i think that's their motto here.

Do not worry, there still is tremendous scope for growth. You just need ot be a little patient. All the best.

We are in a stage that can be compared with .com bubble from 2000. Like in that times people think that that particular technology can solve everything. I didn't at that time, it won't be the case also now. We are just exploring the possibilities; most ideas will turn to be not viable, others will succeed and a lot of them are simply scam. There a lot of dead horses that people are betting on right now, but there are some champions too. So, you are definitely not late to this party, it is just getting started. But don't expect that everything that you invest now to bring you big rewards. You will definitely loose some of your invested money; hell, you can loose them all. So keep that in mind. Only invest the amount of money that you can afford to loose.

crypto is still on a downward trend, so you have the chance to buy in each time it drops. i would set buy limits for btc at 8000, 6000, 4000, etc... you cant time it eactly when the bottom is

I've recently come to realise that, technology-wise, we're still very much in the earlier stages of development.  What we're using at the moment are effectively the foundations of something larger.  There are plenty of advancements to come once layers are built on top.  While no one can guarantee that means a healthy return on your investment, I'm reasonably certain you're not too late to the party.  But I will stress that Bitcoin is categorically not a "get-rich-quick" scheme.  It's likely there will be some dramatic price swings along the way, though, so note that it isn't for the faint-hearted.  As others have said, don't invest what you can't afford to lose and I'd add don't leave your funds in a webwallet or exchange unless it's a small amount you don't mind losing.  And if you do invest any large sums, make sure you understand all the security implications.  If it does turn out to make you wealthy, you definitely don't want to lose it.

Maybe you are right. Any help with mortgage (form of modern slavery, if priviledged) would be good.

Well, What if you say the same thing after few years?

Better to invest now than living in this regret and staying away from it.

When you believe it is the next big thing why not to be a part of it. Yeah you might not get your hands on  a lambo that early but when bitcoin skyrocket to 1 btc = $1m
think about that  Grin

It's never too late! My friends recently started mining, they have a dozen farms, and it will not stop. If you do not take into account the extraction of minerals, then my friend earns on stock exchanges and ICO, so my advice, if there is a desire and time, then get down to business =) !!!
P.S. Sorry for my English Roll Eyes

It is an extremely difficult question, one that can be answered accurately only in retrospect. I can recall that huge bitcoin fall of 2011, from $32 to $2. Almost everyone, including me, thought that it was dead - but look where it is now. I could have bought enough coins then to make me a millionaire now, but it is hindsight.

Personally, I think (and hope) that it is not over and that there will be another pump. However, the situation is now more complicated because there is a multitude of coins. I would not place all bets on a single crypto, BTC or anything else. And a very important advice already mentioned:

Anyway, rule 1 is: do not invest what you cannot afford to loose.

I heard about people selling their homes and possessions to invest in bitcoin in 2017. Don't do this. This is absolutely irresponsible.

I don't think it is ever too late. Just choose wisely in what coins to invest and spread the risk to multiple coins. Anyway, rule 1 is: do not invest what you cannot afford to loose.

Too late for Lambos?  Wink Just a joke. It all depends on why you want to invest. Do a lot of research first of all. Don't spend more than you can afford to. Don't FOMO (fear of missing out) Read..Read..Read..Read.  You are in exactly the right place to learn what you need to know. Good luck!
