Hello Guys !
I m interested in creating a bitcoin faucet, but I m wondering is it worth it ?
can any faucet owner talk from his experience ? or give some tips please ?
Thanks !
If you are not a web developer and if you want to create a standalone faucet, today, it's not worth it.
I suggest, why don't you create a blog or something informative and unique blog then to attract viewers or visitors, integrate a faucet in it, with heighten security, of course. I also want to try that idea but I have office works, so I'm just maintaining my standalone faucet.

sound like a great idea, thanks !

yes but with this idea you need to write unique and original content (even not banal!)
are you sure you can talk really good about btc? I have some doubts, because unless you copy paste article from other websites "its ok" but if you need to explain some major technical .... I think it's not easy at all!

The truth is all this niches are full, faucets, blogs, games, etc.

People need to create something unique to have revenue, it's like a fiat currency...

How much money do you have to start this? In the beginning, before you built up a user base, you have to attract people to your site,

offering higher than average payouts, which will have to come from your own pocket. This will have to go on for a month or two, until your

user base has grown big enough to replace your money with the money coming in from the advertisers.
Giving very high payouts only in the beginning and not keeping it is very wrong, it is like playing with fire , he will get lot of traffic (traffic will sky rocket) and joined people, will have to get a better protection such as cloudflare, will need to upgrade server/hosting for much better incoming traffic but when the payouts are lowered later or slower but surely he will end up by losing people (which will go for hunting new high payout faucets) and money used on upgrades. I think this exactly will happen with Faucet Go if they'll keep lowering the payouts (which right now are not anymore same as it was since beginning).
He will need a stable value of payouts/claims and this can be settled only based on the used advertising networks and in the first week based on estimated traffic while in  testing. He will need assistance/help from a faucet owner.

You can find a cheap host of a dollar a year and have some revenue but it don't worth the job you will have against bots and things like that, also you will find a lot of scam adnetworks.

Well, try, if you don't got revenue, use the domain for other thing.

I think it is not worth to open and run bitcoin faucet at the current stage as there are lots of users who use proxies and bots to empty the instantly paying faucets as well as there are not much bitcoin adnetworks which pay well and accept bitcoin faucets to be publishers. Either you need to invest or pay so much before you start earning good amount from adnetwork for which you need to have 10k or even more unique visitors per day.

Without adsense it is not worth running a faucet nowadays. My faucet pays 200 satoshis every 60 minutes which is average rewards and even with popads, the only profit I make goes to monthly hosting. There are faucet users who just want to claim 1000 satoshis every 60 minutes, for them it is does not matter if the faucet admin is making any profit, what the bitcoin price is. If you have a huge user base and the concept of your faucet is unique then you would be in profit even without adsense.

i think its not worth to make a faucet for now, because the reward to claim you can make its really small and people do not want to receive small amount for their reward.

It's not profitable, if is, you will earn a little bit only, so it's useless.

Try to make something new Wink

Running a profitable faucet is very difficult these days, you  will spend money from your own pocket in the beginning and later you will have to deal with bots.
Since you say that you are an experienced programmer I suggest you to avoid using faucetbox script and create yours from scratch.I don't know how difficult it is but you will have much better protection from bots with a custom faucet script.

It is simply a business mate. There are thousands of faucets that are doomed to disappear in couple of weeks while there are faucets like freebitco.in and donaldcoin or recently known as ceto beto. The sucess is depending on your skills and perhaps a bit luck Wink

Hard to say... You need to protect your faucet against bots, hackers and it demands a lot of time. Another issue is the Adsense, because they ban faucet users sooner or later, and another Ads companies aren't enough to pay decent rewards.

Some time ago I would say: yes, it's a good idea to make a faucet. But today I don't think so anymore.

You'll probably earn as much as on PTC sites. Or if you have a good marketing and some dice on your faucet, maybe you would earna bit more. Depends on what you expect and have time for.

If you really want to get some profits from a faucet , you should have good security against bots and some good ad networks.

I used to own one, but at a time when so many bots appeared many faucets became dry.

So, it's really irritating.

I dont think faucets are worthy anymore unless you spent alot of money in its promotion and development and you are pretty lucky at the same time.
Specially after google adsense stopped showing adds on the faucets i dont think its worthy anymore to earn good income from making any faucets.

bots and the hackers and also users trying to cheat you. {duplicate accounts} Good luck...  Roll Eyes
a lots of things to work on, right ?
btw I just checked the faucet script of FaucetBOX and it's pretty good, and they let you promote your faucet in their site which can save me some bitcoins... I m thinking about launching one in the next month.
Should I go for it ?
Faucetbox is most popular faucet service. But their script is poor protected by bots. You will have to do many things by yourself: block proxy/vpn users, bots bitcoin addresses, add antibot links. If you will use faucetbox script, your faucet will look like many other faucets. You will need to make changes in script to make unique faucet.
And it's very hard to surive for faucets. Traffic that you will get will be poor quality, you woll have fake clicks on ads and low payment rates from ad networks. I don't is it worth to spend lot of time to create and maintain faucet and get almost 0 profit.

I think I can customize my faucet from both the front and the backend, I am a PHP programmer with good experience, and I can make responsive designs ( HTML + CSS )
And for traffic, I have a small Facebook page ( bitcoin related ) growing slowly, and maybe the name of the page is going to be the same as the faucet
Facebook page will help to promote faucet. But you will get poor traffic from other sources like rotators. Worst traffic comes from Russia, Ukraine and Indonesia and sadly ad networks for it paying only dust.

You will have to invest a lot of work because I found these faucets are a pain to keep updated given all these clickbots, proxy and tor multiaccounts trying to suck your wallet dry.

Also I found so many sites abandoned you will have a hard time and lots of marketing ahead to establish yourself as a legit faucet.
