Litecoin is a GPU mining coin, but I would buy it and hold until it becomes expensive.

I think mining with this equipment will not give you a good profit. I would advise you to buy some coins and save them until the market grows up. And if you hurt, your computer will suffer and eventually fail and you will need to buy a new!

Just another note for the miners out there. What ever you do, do not mine on the Bitmain pool. This just encourages them to keep selling miners with no end in site. They can make money off of you when you mine there. Mine for litecoin any where but antminer Bitmain pool. They will make money selling you the miners and force you to keep buying more and more mining power to be profitable. The best thing to do is to stop ordering miners and force them to manufacture only a set amount. Then do not mine in the AntPool.

Both BTC and LTC are mined pretty much solidly with ASIC's.  Not GPU and certainly not CPU.

However  the difference is you can still mine LTC with a GPU, and earn a bit.  But once you calculate the cost of electricity you are losing money each day so not worth it.  If you live somewhere where you don't pay for power, or shudder at your parents, and don't mind explaining why their power bill went up $50 so you could make $5, then GPU mining is still a possibility.  But best advice I can give you is to find a coin where ASIC's are not yet available, and mine them, as you can still make a profit on those coins.

That's got the tip ,gonna look in to it

Dear Friends

how many litecoins gpu and cpu can do ? ex : RX480 or Nvidia 1070 ? Is it worth using gpu or cpu to mine litecoin?

thanks
Almir

i think its better you mine other coins because for mining ltc, you need more better hardware like other members mention. but you still have many option coins for mining with that vga cards and if you find the right coins, you can make profit. i think it still worth for mining litecoin until now because the difficulty of litecoin is not yet high but soon it will increase and if that time is come, it will be difficult to mining litecoin.

Yeah, dl a software where you can mine ltc or i recommend you ethereum is more profitable i also invest in mining and i do earn a good profit in my small mining farm in my house but it is really a investment you need a lot of money to star and buy hardware you will need a lot of video card if your planning toto have a super pc.

I thought ltc is a $btc alike coin and is only mined by CPU? Am I wrong ?  Why is btc not being mined on gpus 🤔 Confused
Litecoin for now can be mined by GPU and can get good returns by doing it because the difficulty for mining it is not that big yet, because when compared to the number of bitcoin miners, it has less. BTC cannot be mined on GPU's just because the difficulty is too high, and it would be hard for GPU to mine even 1 bitcoin in a year so it is better to use asics to mine BTC but still it won't be that profitable unless you are using a good mining equipment.

Litecoin is mined with asics these days, not gpu. Sooner or later, all altcoins will be mined by asics.

I'm almost postive that Litecoin is still mined using GPU's, it is Bitcoin that can only be mined with Asics.

do your math, probably won't be the best choice
If there was even a small possibility of making money through mining Bitcoin with a CPU then there would be a bunch of people doing it. I wouldn’t do it since the difficulty for that is very high, you would need to purchase a bunch of computers in order to get up to a tiny percent chance for staying up with the competition. Thanks for the link, although the calculation might not be accurate, it will give you an view on how much money you would need to spend in order to be a competitor.

I would say GPU, for me it works better than CPU

Mining Litecoin is not as difficult as BTC because the difficulty level is still small, why small? Because ASIC miner can not participate in mining in LTC because the programming is not yet available. Currently available for mining in LTC is GPU and Processor. But I think it's better to use GPU. Because GPU can be added a lot in 1 pc

What are you talking about???  lol.  ASIC Scrypt (LTC) miners have been available for almost 2 years now.

this is not worth it at all, but you'd like to do it, it's cool and unprofitable

No it is not worth because the number of people who are mining litecoin is very high and if you use GPU or cpu to mine, you can never make a good profit with it. Try to buy the L3 antminer because they have set up a suitable algorithm which will help you to earn a good amount of litecoin every month.

if you want to try Litecoin mining you want to look out for this  Antminer L3+, 504MH/s for $1900 it will  profitable for now but soon as the difficulty increases your profit decreases just like all the coin that has been mined. For now it will be profitable and take the online calculator to do the math.

Not really worth it to mine LTC with GPU, and not at all worth it to mine with CPU.  Don't even try.  If you really want to mine Scrypt coins via GPU, there are a number you can try that will pay out more, but still not enough to cover the Electricity.  Only way it makes sense is if you get electricity for free.

For that calculator, the Speed a decent GPU usually mines LTC (Scrypt) is around 1 Mh/s  more or less.  The power used is around 350W

There are a number of coins that you can mine with GPU like Sia Coin, Etherium ect.  Things with different hash types than Scrypt and SHA-256.

For reference, I have 2 old Gridseed Scrypt ASIC Miners left over, that hash at about 800 kh/s, so a bit less than a decent GPU.  Mining alt Scrypt coins, I can pull in about $0.10 a day.  They nice thing is they only use 7 W, so they are still making money.  On a large coin like LTC, I would expect that to drop to around the $0.02 - $0.03 a day range.   Plus with the price of Electricity, I would expect that to be in the $0.75 range, so you would be losing money each day.

GPU for sure,LTC is a gpu mining coin .

What will give me more winnings?

I will get more money using my pc with nicehash or at home using my GPU in a pool?
