Your Computer can't compete with big mining business using lots of machines with cheap electricity, latest tecnology. Those days where people mining at home are in the past now. As people said before in the thread, you can try mining alt-coins, but I don't know if it worth anyway. Best way is to use BTC as a normal coin. Receiving payments for your work in BTC for an example.

Do not try it, if you love computer. But you can try to learn the Altcoin mining.
There are a few options for it;

try to minergate or https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=159.0 browse the ones here
yes do not use the computer for mining. If you love to your computer. it will ruin even destroy it. buy the appropriate tools for mining. a tool that is really designed for that.

I also have that laptop and I mine espers and vanilla it might not be profitable for now but looking for future investment I think espers will profit you, since espers is just new we don't know yet what is real value so if you really wants to use your laptop  for mining mine espers mate. good luck.

You may consider selling minig speeds on markets and getting fxed rates.

This is considered good software:
https://github.com/nicehash/nicehashminer

Search for them on this forum (NiceHash) I think they were called.

no !! never use your CPU to do the mining. it will damage your CPU components. obtained by you will not be comparable to the price of your computer. I highly do not recommend it for mining in the computer !!

Exactly!
It is not good for Bitcoin mining, bt may be good for other mining. There are some differnet algorithms that could run better such as mining on hard drives (if there are large amounts unused storage space.

quick specs:

i7 2.4ghz proci
16gb ram
4gb amd radeon gpu

No, unless for hobby, it is not useful.

If you try using that, you will burn your ram, gpu and processor.
However, you could look at trying to puchase a couple of antminer U3s if you want to try mining at afairly cheap rate but that is also considered unprofitable.

No not at all. Just forget about minning with these specs

Most likely no.  What model AMD card? You don't go into enough detail's.  You might be able to do ether mining as many have, but one card running on a single system is pretty not-efficient so likely not going to be profitable.

GPU is still a hard game but Ether mining made it possible for some with cheap electricity out there.

Yes your computer is profitable for mining alt coins. But if your target is for mining bitcoins
then probably stop wasting your time mining then because it is not profitable anymore.

DO NOT BOTHER!  I play with alt coin mining and I make next to nothing with a better computer you have listed.  Unless you are going to invest into a miner, do not bother unless you are just playing around like I do.

will never profitable mining using your computer. I myself have a spec i5, 8gb ram and GPU r9 280x.
and I also have asked some of my friends who know enough about mining, that they suggest it is better not to use for mining.

It is not suitable for bitcoin mining but it is possible to mine certain altcoin. I would suggest with you GPU digibyte with qubit algorithm

well, there is few cpu alt coin in wich you can try, maybe you have lucky with it, here you can find a simply list of cpu coins http://cpucoinlist.com/ but i think that list is outdated, for example XMG is not on that list.

about the gpu, if you dont mind about electricity cost, there are plenty of altcoins, so... your choice, but don't expect much...
