Yes, caution is always needed. Axies is just an example of how demanded such tokens can become and it's somehow an experiment which has been doing very well. Anyway right now it's really overpriced in my opinion, because the hype. To put 1000$ in a game to purchase the weakest possible team is a lot for me, although people are surprisingly doing this and the servers are constantly overloaded.
Actually NFTs will become a real thing when big companies adopt and develop their own tokens. Probably all the categories of online games will have to introduce this feature on their platforms to stay competitive.

First it was Defi and many made millions. then enters NFTS and it was not as successful as it is because it involves huge resalers and copy right. i think the current trending tokwn is Meme coins. recently The popular marketer of dogecoin elon has discovered another token he banks on not minding the shibu inu token. I expect NFT will have its surges and huge adoption of the community. But we still not sure how sustainable is this project? If we could remember the things that happen to ICO, Defi projects, the more likely it possible to happen to NFT as well. However, it was to believe that the community is knowledgeable enough to compare the benefits that they will get from NFT to the previous projects. If that they saw this NFT is much usable, the adoption will take place and could able to sustain a long time.

What do you mean with still hot? NFT is still going strong as ever and even growing now many companies that are big also starting to implement NFT, trust me within few years NFT gonna dominate because it's usefulness, I even predicted that many games in the future will implement NFT and it's not only limited to that.
I'd even say the current stage of NFT is still on its early phase, many people seeing NFT as gimmick because they really don't know the potential behind NFT and how it can be more impactful to end user than cryptocurrency itself, just mark my word in the future it's gonna happen.

NFT was red hot during March when even tweets on Twitter could be turned to an NFT I can't say the same for now, because it seems like the NFT hype is not that high as it used to be, even though there are still tons of projects coming out daily with talks about NFT, earlier this month the crypto space was crazy over animal coins, but thanks to the recent dump, it has reset all crazy feelings people were having about those shitcoins.
