I don't know, but I personally think It would be referral spam If there wouldn't be alternative without a referral link but you can choose between referral and not referral link. As far as I know If you post on topic link with Referral It isn't a ref spam but I don't know If you post as a commentator or original post creator. In this situation I wouldn't call It as a referral spam but mods or admins decide this.

He's right, this isn't referral spam as he included non-refs
If it were referral spam he would've done something like "JOIN MY SITE REFLINK.com/REF"
That's ref spam

tysat has already made his ruling (in post 8) that the post is still considered to be ref spam even when the non-ref links are provided.

Theymos has said he doesn't care much about url shorteners, though he has blocked specific ones in the past, I think because they were ad based, don't really recall.

I apologize for being a bit off topic here, but there's forum software that recognizes suspicious looking links? I always figured it was the mods removing them.

The forum software is heavily modified.

Only newbies have URL shorteners and other suspicious links filtered out. (300+ banned patterns!) There's no problem with other people posting such links, though I recommend posting the whole link unless it's really long.

What is the forum policy on link shorteners as I see no mention of this anywhere?

They're fine.

The link ANXPRO forum managers are placing across the board are not mere URL shortner of anxpro.com. They are shortening a referral. If u take up the example I have given, it is broken down as follows...

Code:
http://bit.ly/UxeAkD

Code:
https://anxpro.com/?utm_source=forum_referral02&utm_medium=link&utm_campaign=marketing]

Whoops missed that part of the link, I'm used to looking for the referral code at the end of the url. Replies to questions with referrals are usually okay, though it may still be classified as spam if the user is posting them excessively (if that's the case mention it in the reason for reporting). It's mainly creating threads for the purpose of spreading referral links we have a problem with.

Yes... I do !!! I prefer quality over quantity in every aspect of life Tongue

@tysat Just checked bitcointodaynews.com in your sig. Is it yours ?

Quality over quantity is definitely good, you're just being slightly extreme with it...  Wink

It's not mine, just trying to help promote it for now since I've got nothing better to put in my sig.

As for the URL shortening with ANXPRO, it looks like it's just being done to hide the referral link.  There's really no reason to use a URL shortener if you're using BB code to make it appear as text instead of the URL.

I dont want to decrease my accuracy, which is already down to 97%. So before reporting, I want to know the exact forum rule from the mods.

That is an awful reason to not report things!  Having a higher accuracy does nothing for you.  It's better to report more things and have a lower accuracy than to report less and have a higher one, the former is going to lead to more actions by mods.

Also, some things do not have set rules so it's going to be up to the mod who's looking at the report.

Do you really care that much about accuracy?  Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh

Wow i expected you to rethink it and answer no. This is kind of selfish, but well you know Smiley

Lately, I am seeing a new kind of referral everywhere across the board. Some people, who call themself ANX Trusted Forum Manager, are posting it in different forum replies. Here is an example...

Buying bitcoin is itself an investment and the most secure, most investments inside bitcoin are scams, btcjam has defaulted many loans so be cautious and just buy more bitcoins ANXPRO

I think their posts are constructive and contextual. So, should we report this kind of a link as referral spam ?
If it's related to topic then it isn't spam is it?

I did not say SPAM. I said REFERRAL SPAM. 2 are different. SPAM is deleted, REFERRAL SPAM is edited.
Oh sorry, try reporting it then and see how mod. deals with it? If he will edit it then we should report tese referral spams probably.

I think they should be reported.  I'm also not a huge fan of them using a URL shortening service, it just throws up red flags for me.
Just quoting staff post above yours and mine so yep it should be reported.

Unfortunately no. Once a report has been marked as a bad one, it can't be changed.

Theymos would be able to change it as a 'good' report if he wanted too.  But, I don't think people care all that much about report success to trouble Theymos.

It's definitely referral spam, the referral links are being removed right now...  Cool

Will BitCoinDream's report be marked as successful then? I suppose the OP of the topic in question shouldn't mind too much as his topic loses no value from their removal.
