Most probably a pile of bullshit. Cryptsy is having withdrawal problems for people withdrawing more than one bitcoin, how can we trust then to give away 1000 of em?

You're probably right, but if someone did recover the stolen coins, then I assume that the bounty would be paid out of the recovered coins.  Of course the coins were probably never stolen from bigvern so this is all a moot point.

I think that the same guy that is offering this bounty is the guy that stole the coins.. And it's not just about doxing him, his dox is allready in the class action thread.

He wants "information leading to the recovery of the coins" or something similar, though I bet he stole them himself..

His name is Paul Edward Vernon... Dig and dox away..

I'm not planing on doxing anyone, that was just an example of a non-paying bounty/lie.
It is possible that he stole them himself, no way to find out for sure yet.
Maybe it was an inside job in 2014, and they covered it up to get as much BTC as possible before making the scammed story.

This is a good theory, something we read from newspaper when a bank was robbed and the crime was perfectly executed, the Cryptsy crime is perfectly executed and they want a scapegoat for a perfect crime,a perfect scapegoat that they are looking for..

I think that if the bitcoins were really stolen from cryptsy, then it may be legit.  It's just hard to know if they were stolen or if the owner took them himself.

the drama like this always happened time to time, a company who held large amount of bitcoin claiming they got hacked and all funds were stolen all of it are bullshit.
the truth are cryptsy untrustworthy they are lied being hacked so the bounty itself mean nothing.

They left the situation reach this point by lying, would you trust them?

Do it or don't, but don't expect anything in return, I think there are several hidden things in this story, but of course won't say anything because I have no proof

Your user name is Karpeles, that is very familiar to me. Do you have anything to do with the French guy?

Its legitimate in that it would be extremely hard to be in a position where you could claim it.   Problem is you will get zero for your work if you only do 90% of the work, without recovery of the coins then there is nothing to pay you.   Its not just this case, its often how rewards go but maybe someone knows how to easily get it back but its unlikely and yea just for publicity I guess though I'd offer the same if I were in the same position

I think it is legit, because they really got shat on.
And I think they would actually lose all credibility if they didn't come through with that either.
I think that bounty is a bull
The owner already closed his office and running away somewhere Sad
He's trying to think he's the victim here by making a 1000 btc bounty
i doubt anyone can find the hacker Tongue

I've seen plenty of incentives offered in the past after major hacks. Does anyone know how many have been concluded and paid out? I'm assuming it's hovering somewhere around the zero mark.

No, there is nothing legit about Big Vern and his source of stolen coins.
When there were high problems no one could find Big Vern. Strange when you are owner of Cryptsy and you are no where to explain it what happens.

If it was a serious enterprise it would not have been jacked that way.

Yes, they can't be serious right now with this bounty.
They can't even pay me my 0.6 BTC.
Cryptsy is broke and a lot of customers will file suits against them. Mark my words.

I still have some coins in the Craptsy exchange. But coin name starts with V. So it will take long time to get my coins.

Thing is with a bounty for any large amount of effort to be expended, it has to be held with a escrow party so that the work is assured to be paid with any sucess.   So Im not sure that is the case, just the promise that with any money returned a section would be allocated to those that helped.  Much like the police might offer, unfortunately trust is an issue here

I suspect somebody inside the cryptsy stole the money. So the bounty will not be paid as nobody will be caught.

This is probably the more likely scenario. When things like this happen it's likely just an inside job and another gox. Probably just trying to look innocent but even if it was someone else he knows there's next to zero chance of having the coins recovered (and even if someone did manage to locate them they'd likely just keep them for themselves anyway).
