I havent seen big news that would trigger price to go up beyond the ebay anouncement, so this plus xmas being near hype.

What's the eBay announcement?

I could see people wanting to buy Bitcoins for deals for Christmas shopping. It sounds like there are going to be discounts for products if you pay in Bitcoin for Black Friday, so, I could see people turning their dollars into Bitcoins to get a discount, especially if they can get all their presents for people that way. It would be a good way to save.

Of course if enough people bought into Bitcoins to get those deals, the price would go up a bit.

I think the rise in price is due to everyone being bullish all the sudden and convincing eachother that a new rally is about to start. Maybe we'll go to $400 but I don't see us going much higher

i think price rising as more people are listening about bitcoin and acquiring them

Yes, its more likely caused by tip day... after all, it takes a few days to get your bank validated on coinbase, circle, etc.

Actually no, the price rise is due to aliens.

Openbazaar is great though! Hopefully it will get big enough for sellers to be able to make a good living on there.

thanks for the info, really appreciate it.

No problem. I'm incredibly interested in this project, as I use to sell on eBay and Amazon, and had issues with both in how they run things, so I would love a better marketplace to sell products.

In the thread in general about Open Bazaar, someone posted it shouldn't be used for that, since it's not that anonymous. Here's the quote:

I wonder if drugs can be sold on open bazaar and if it supports anonymity. Technically it should be possible with the help of BitMessage for example.

In the thread in general about Open Bazaar, someone posted it shouldn't be used for that, since it's not that anonymous. Here's the quote:

Don't use Open Bazaar for anything the 5 Eyes Alliance law enforcement would be interested in.

For starters, it's not even designed for Tor use so somebody forked it to bolt this option on. Who knows what kind of data is leaking to identify you since it was never designed for that level of anonymity. Second, you run your own little server which means it will be that much easier to discover who you are: https://lists.torproject.org/pipermail/tor-dev/2014-November/007731.html so instead of simply demasking hosts they can now find users too.

It's also alpha, experimental software much like how Tor is still considered experimental software. Open Bazaar has a ton of other uses that aren't illegal to streamline trade between countries and will be an excellent platform for that. Something completely different has to be written to avoid 5 Eyes Alliance law enforcement, like delayed traffic much like how Adam Langley's Pond messaging system works. Simply bolting on some Tor support and firing up your home desktop to trade kilos of cocaine is not a good idea.

You should also watch this first before even thinking about using OB to become the scarface of the internet to see how open source projects can be sabotaged https://youtu.be/3jQoAYRKqhg

more likely its due to the fact that Ukraine banned bitcoin - worried about Capital flight much?

I think the idea is anything can and will be sold on it. Think Darkwallet plus BitMessage.

I really like the idea of open bazaar and hope it gets a chance to effect the market someday. i haven't looked at it since the initial release. Are there plans for adding a decentralized exchange? I am tired of getting ripped off by these centralized exchanges.

Don't we already know that good news push the price downwards?

True. OpenBazaar will actually create a wide Bitcoin economy though.

Or it could just end up being a quirky application that nobody installs but everyone debates.
