From my own point of view litecoin is a good coin that have been in the crypto market for some years now but if your points are true that the owner have abandoned it then there is no point investing or holding it.

Although there is nothing much exciting about Litecoinfor now, and even the halving that I relied on had no effect on Litecoin, it was just as if the halving was made for bitcoin, instead of Litecoin surging, it was bitcoin that responded instead, and if not for the increase of bitcoin, Litecoin may not have seen its recent little increase.

I think if you are to hold Litecoin, it would be wise to just hold half of what you have right now and probably put the remaining half into bitcoin, although I am feeling that the altcoins season would be here soon, so alternatively, you could just hold it and wait for the altcoins season to come and increase the little it can increase, then you withdraw the whole altcoins before it goes back to bear market and keep you wondering for another long years.

The reality is, anyone who currently holds ltc will state it's a solid investment. Others may be a little more skeptical.

Right now in this market, anything but BTC seems pretty risky to me. LTC could certainly go up in the future, but at the same time it'll probably only do that by riding on BTC's coattails... which means one might as well just hold BTC instead.
all crypto coins are at risk, it's better to hold bitcoin. if in the end all the existing coins always follow bitcoin. for what holds other than BTC. Litecoin survives only because of speculation so it is difficult to say that this coin will be good in the future.

But, it's not a good idea when someone called litecoin as a utility token while it has nothing to do with what is the utility usage of the litecoin itself. Litecoin hodlers will never agree with it.
For me litecoin is not a solid investment and it has already explained very well by SEC if the coin that already filled all of requirements to be the utility coin is ether and bitcoin.
I'm thinking about what I can get from the token.

This is Litecoin's repo:

https://github.com/litecoin-project/litecoin

it didn't undergo any improvements in over a year (all recent commits, that were over half a year ago, are all meta data). From what I undretand, its founder abandoned it.
There was a price hike due to the recent halving, but for the price to remain high or to increase, there needs to be a future to justify the mining and demand.
This doesn't seem to be the case, as the project is abandoned and stagnating.

So I'm asking, is there still a reason to be excited about or hold Litecoin?

Of course! If we refer to LTC's data in  CMC in terms of market capitalization and volume and being among the top 10 cryptocurrency, then I say yes! it still is a very viable coin to hold. Though it has few improvements, its strengths lies on it being popular and also has a wide adoption base being one of the earliest crypto. Imho.

I think more like LTC will be replaced by another altcoin, in my opinion alt who has a future those who have a goal to be better in the future if they only have a large volume and enter the top 10 cmc will be useless without any future goals.  in 2 years if ltc without any major updates automatically disappears

Being logical, Litecoin is a project left behind by it's developer. It has no future as there is no leadership to give it a direction.
But considering speculation, litecoin is the best performing coin for investors in 2018 and 2019. It could still be a good investment for the rest of 2019.

Litecoin is a typical example of an altcoin. The only advantage for LTC is that it was created way back in 2011 and the promoters gave it a lot of publicity and hype back then. Until the creation of Ethereum in 2015, Litecoin was considered as the no.2 cryptocurrency both in terms of acceptability and market capitalization. But as you said, there is nothing unique about this project. It is just a plain copycat of Bitcoin and the promoters created it hoping that they'll also get rich by exploiting the popularity of Bitcoin.

Although it has no technical advantages over Bitcoin, over the years Litecoin has managed to build a loyal and large user community for itself. And this large user base is the only reason why the coin hasn't gone down as some of the other alts during the last 2-3 months. But the basics remain weak, and eventually I expect Litecoin to die slowly and get replaced by technologically advanced coins.

If you are to talk about technical advantages, isn't it that there are a handful of altcoins that can surpass Bitcoin on this? In terms of speed, fees, practicality in use, scalability, etc some altcoins are much better than Bitcoin. But look at where Bitcoin is. It is dominating in the market because of the community of loyal supporters. I can see this in Litecoin as well. The coin is one of the oldest and most used in real life. There is no reason why it will weaken as crypto adoption is growing fast.

Litecoin remains to me one of the most profitable altcoins.

In my own opinion I would say that I still have faith in Litecoin as a viable investment actually I do have considerable number of Litecoin stored in my wallet and I do not have plans of selling it since I am active at the community at the moment and also known many friends who have considerable amount of litecoin as their main investment. So I only laugh at the naysayers about litecoin doing this or doing that, it will not fall.

Litecoin is the very first clone of Bitcoin, it was created to be a lighter version with more supply and as meant to be an alternative to Bitcoin, but as we all know there are a lot of Bitcoin fork and litecoin is struggling to have a place in the top 10 in the market, as many new coins are coming in with better features, chains, and large community support.

We can see Litecoin vulnerability as a strong coin when a new coin with good features can easily overtake it, from number 2 they are now in the 5th place and there's no guaranty that they will remain in that position as Binance coin and Eos are coming in closer.

Litecoin to me is so much like Dogecoin, a good old coin that's still worth adding to your portfolio.

The price are very cheap and Litecoin have very good team behind this so i think if this not grow now then still for sure in the future

Then this is trusted already for an investment like for so long period of time another thing we know this are very useful and helpful in different ways like in faucets, trading site, gambling site then many more so this have future and that's why this can really grow high

In my opinion LTC is better than BTC. It is much cheaper so everyone can afford this coins, transaction speed is much faster, fees are much lover and LTC halving is around the corner, so LTC is almost the best coin to hold right now.

Of course, we can wait for the Litecoin halving moment where on August 25th, Litecoin will do halving, and many speculations say that the price of Litecoin will increase dramatically after halving occurs. So I think the point after halving can still make you hold LTC as your investment.
Mate, Litecoin's halving is done. The next halving will be on 2023 of August. Check the schedule on https://www.litecoinblockhalf.com/
Litecoin for me as an investment is still good but don't put all of your money on it. Just put it as a process of diversification where you have to scatter your investments mainly on bitcoin and next with Litecoin.

If you analyse the journey of btc post halving you would see that btc remained in the bull trend for almost 1.5 years which also gives buy signal to atleast me for buying and holding ltc as post halving bulls have proven more potent but you need to be patient to reap good rewards.

August 25th? Not sure where you are getting that date from.

LTC just halved today. Personally I feel the price was baked in like 2 months ago, and folks have
just been taking their profits. Kind of risky to think it'll increase now (against btc), and not so sure against fiat either.

If you could label a cryptocurrency as a copycat, then there is no coin more deserving for that label other than Litecoin. When Charlie Lee created the coin back in October 2011, he was quite straightforward about his invention. He was saying that his aim is to create a "Lite" version of Bitcoin, with a considerably larger total supply. If you compare LTC with BTC, there are only minor differences between the two currencies.

In short, there is nothing unique with Litecoin that ensures the long term survival of that particular cryptocurrency. We don't need a "Lite" version of Bitcoin, as BTC itself is lite enough for ordinary usage. So the main reasoning for the creation of Litecoin is irrelevant now. And as some of the users pointed out, the continued development of LTC has taken a back seat during the past few years.
