I think this defeats the whole purpose of Bitcoin....

You would be right to think that, bitcoin to me means being your own bank and learning to keep your own security up to date relying on yourself and not some sly bankers who do not care about you in the slightest only about how much money you can make them. Plus it is pretty cool to be your own boss in charge of your own money, bitcoin the game changer.

Then there's this:
Quote
The first Bitcoin ETF for "ordinary" investors to buy is almost here...

The Bitcoin Investment Trust got approval last week from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) to sell its shares on the OTC Markets. It should start trading within the next couple of weeks. It is currently listed on the OTC Markets "pink sheets" under a temporary symbol, BTCV, but will have a permanent ticker of OTCMKTS: GBTC.

The fund gives investors a way to invest in Bitcoin without going to the trouble of buying Bitcoin and worrying about having a secure place to store it. It marks another step forward in Bitcoin's long march to mass adoption.

That would defeat the whole purpose of bitcoin: no middle man. Why would you want a middle man?
exactly, why do we need a bank? for some interest? i dont think so though its a good idea, if there were a bitcoin bank giving interest they would have to earn money by giving out loans but that is risky considering the nature of bitcoin.

Oddly enough when I google "bitcoin bank" it auto fills to "Bitcoin bank interest" and one of the first links is to https://www.bitbond.com/

I don't know if they can be trusted or not but there are sure are banks ready to take your money and supposedly even give you a return of interest for 'banking' with them.

even when I type in google "bitcoin bank" that appears first is blockchain and both coinbase.

so the wallet is my own bank right?

you could use btcjam. that does sort of the same. Right Smiley

Yes that is right it does lend threw p2p, good thinking i forgot about btcjam if i am honest as long as you have collateral and a means to pay back should have no problem getting a loan  Smiley and again i am sure it will not be as much as the sort of high interest loan you would get from bank etc
BTCJam does not accept collateral for loans and they only accept IDs which are easily faked. Out of every 100 loans, nearly 20 would default with no chance of contacting them. needless to say, their support isn't responsive.

A place where you can give your bitcoins and earn savings or take out loans or whatever the other banks do really , just simply a bitcoin bank?

Not right now. It will still take some time before reliable bitcoin banks develop.  Smiley

And, as others have said, part of the point of bitcoin was supposed to be the "be your own bank" mentality.  So it's a little weird to ask for a bank.  Still, some sorts of a bank-like services are available if OP really wants to give his bitcoin away.

I do not know if there is, and never wanted to know. For surely it is very risky to leave your Bitcoins somewhere other than not your wallet off.

But if you want to take risks, the previous posts, it seems that there is something rather similar to a bank.

There are certainly "investments" and "funds" and other things like that where you can deposit bitcoins and either reap the rewards or mourn the scam you just fell for.  That is, I think you can find many many people who will be happy to hold your bitcoin for you and will offer to pay your for that, you just have to decide who is serious and who isn't.

I don't want a middle man but it would be cool to have savings acount. I don't know with my bitcoin anyway.
Bitcoin does not have it, but you have that already with many altcoins that implement PoS (proof of stake) algorithm.
You earn interests on the coins in your wallet (decentralised-bank-account-like).

It defeats the purpose but for investing and taking loans.

Bitcoin is a system to get away from the old ways that your are describing.  Decentralize is the name of the game.  There are plenty of ways to make your BTC work for you, but equally as many, maybe more, scams and schemes out there.  Do your homework before doing anything with your BTC.

The whole concept of Bitcoin goes against centralization, so it makes each person with a Bitcoin wallet "a bank".

It puts the onus strictly on the person or user to make sure that your funds are secured and protected from thieves.  There are some Bitcoin sites that lend and provide high yield investement type practices, but for the most part Bitcoin is all about making each and every human being it's own financial institution.
