I guess there aren't many brick and mortar stores who accepts bitcoin anywhere you go in the world. Bitcoin isn't so good in over-the-counter transaction, not that it can't but not much incentive to accept bitcoin for shop owners. Bitcoin is more successful in the mail order business, you can buy many types of gift cards now with bitcoin.

No because my place is still categorized as growing country. I'm sure that some develop country have some store that accept bitcoin as payment method.
It's really bit strange at the first glance if I see a store that accept bitcoin since it will be my first experience purchasing things with bitcoin directly

Nope, since most people around me still have no idea what bitcoin is. So, I have to exchange my bitcoin into fiat to buy food or any stuff in my city. I really hope there will be atleast few restaurants that accept bitcoin in my city Grin

I am lucky, there are quite a few merchants who accepts Bitcoin in my area. You might like to look at this site --> http://spendbitcoins.com/places/ to see some merchants

Around me unfortunately not. Or at least I haven't run into one yet. The other part of the problem is that I don't know how to find people accepting Bitcoin, even online.

It would be a good idea to create a Bitcoin payment search application for Android and IPhone. I guess this wouldn't be hard to make and then people that accept Bitcoin would just go and add themselves into this directory.

Is there an application like this somewhere out there?

Here around me unfortunately not. There is one cafe/pub nearly 30KM away from here where they did use to accept Bitcoin like a year ago. Not sure if they still do, but that the only thing here within let's say 50KM.
