But why is coinmarketcap advertising scam websites, for example laser.online

coinmarketcap never advertising something like that as far as i know,
they are only listing all coins/tokens/projects that meet their criteria,
such as total volume more than $10,000 and many more.
you might saw an ads from google adsense, adsense will show you an advertising which is recently you used/opened or visited.
so it's not them who is advertising the project but instead google ads who is advertising that project.
(i knew it because i saw that advertising a while ago and when i moved to another topic it showed another one)

by the way your question is out of topic  Kiss Kiss

Why would you use such an extension? Why?

Is it really that hard to simply copy the address you want to use?

Sorry for this issue bud, hope you get your BTC back.

Massive price drop coming...
That is why i don't even like that jaxx wallet plugin because he can copy automatically any address on the browsing page..
I suggest to you to change your wallet instead into electrum if you want a better safe desktop wallet this is just my opinion since i'm not getting any issue using electrum since before..
I already tried to contact them via twitter https://twitter.com/CoinMKTCap/
and i think you may also try to contact them and maybe they can notice you about your issue..

This is why you should ALWAYS DISABLE every stupid extensions which will copy address for you. Why?

1. Mistakes will happen for sure and you experienced that already 0.73186234 lost because of stupid error.
2. Extensions might be infected or malicious and send BTC to totally different addresses.

Copy address manually every time, double or triple check it. It is the best way to avoid mistakes.

The first thing you should do is uninstalling that extension, don't be lazy mate, copy pasting some Bitcoin addresses is not that complicated and you should be cautious while sending and receiving Bitcoins or any other currency.

If I were you I would disable the extension because more mistakes like this surely are going to happen.

You could try their twitter or their request form too:

How can you accidently send 0.73 bitcoins to a donation address?

Anyways, you can start by signing a message with the bitcoin address you sent from to the donation address of coinmarketcap. Than you tweet, email or PM the owner of cmc on here.

If you don't know how to sign a message, look here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/how-to-sign-a-message-990345

Try sending a PM to Gliss, I googled and that's who turned up as their representative on the forum.

This is their Ann thread: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/coinmarketcapcom-market-cap-rankings-of-all-cryptocurrencies-199685 ,it's fairly active so there's high chance they'll see your message, BUT,
I would suggest you message them privately first and ask politely. It was your blunder. Whether they return it or not'll be totally up to them. ^^

Good luck. And do be more careful next time.
