kitty94: So, I am ok to post anything on any thread? I do not need to engage with a conversation, make my points, find a solution etc.

It is not okay to post "anything" on this thread unless it is worth it to be talk about, I mean it would be a spamming obviously when you are just going to create random topics that are not even related to the thread where you are going to post it. You just have to "Create a topic" in a certain thread where you think it is related if it is really necessary like you are really seeking for some answers about it.

But my question is why do I need to talk about something which has not asked. I have seen those people are just repeating same contents.

And about this, you have already said it that your eyes were hurting when you read someone's opinion spamming a certain topic, so I guess the answer has already been given by yourself like what is the point on talking to someone if you clearly know that there is point at all, it is like you are fooling yourself to make a nonsense conversation to a better one.

At the moment I am looking for phishing link and a referral link like jackg suggested. These are easy to spot for me.
Yeah, the main things you're after are:
1. Phishing and referral links
2. If you read a post that is completely off topic from the OP then report it (although IMO if it's directed that way by the OP then it's alright).
3. REALLY low quality posts, like posts taht really don't make sense or posts that are extermely short (it's fine to make a few errors when posting, it isn't fine to make enough errors that your posts become unreadable).

@jackg
I am also trying to absorb the rules as well. The reason I am not rushing is, I do not want to end up finding myself doing error and other people reports my posts. I also do not want to hurt others with my mistakes.

Quote
Thanks, keep up with the well constructive post and you will find that most here will be more than happy to help.
That's all I need, a little helping hand. I am sure some day I will be able to make my own decisions when it comes to keep the community clean and healthy.

No one finds out if you report their posts (other than the moderators of that board), there's no public database of this informaiton, everythign is stored with the moderators and admins for review so there's no penalty for making lots of bad reports... That being said, you might want to try to keep your percentage high if you can as it's quite satisfying to have a high percentage Smiley.

In the end report anything that seems fishy to you. The worst you'll get is a bad report; not a big deal really.
I am trying to understand the reporting things. Still haven't reported one yet however I will soon give it a go,

What sorts of posts get reported? I still haven't spotted much about reporting. This will help me not to post something that might get reported.
Anything that breaks the rules
Although as it's a forum, everything is quite subjective. Sometimes things like trolling don't get dealt with quite a bit here as it allows for more freedom of discussion.

Another educational tip, that's the altcoin section,
Can I have a link for that section. Interesting, these people think they will become rich spamming the forum? Who pays them LOL
Bounty managers...
I don't know why they post in other parts of the altcoin section that their bounty managers don't pay, maybe they fancy spamming everywhere else in the hope of gaining merits...
They are normally people who have hundreds of alts there (alternative accounts) that keep posting on a bounty so that they can claim their hundredth of a cent a few hundred times Smiley.

In the end report anything that seems fishy to you. The worst you'll get is a bad report; not a big deal really.

I know I let seeing these multiplatform spammers, regurgitating their post across all platforms and promoting an ico at the base.

Wasn't sure at the time so I reported it and, boom they were gone.

Good luck

Edit: here is a good topic on reporting

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/guide-reporting-effectively-4519248

This is a good tip. You can learn by reporting posts that seem like they will break the rules (e.g if you spot a phishing link or a referral link or just a general spammer) any bad marks you get will tell you where you have gone wrong and a low accuracy is better than nothing and you're still helping the community.

Quote
Stick to the good parts of the forum and leave the spammers where they are we don't want them to swamp the good parts too.
Haha, yes I will besides I do not have much time to hangout with spammers to spam with them  Smiley

Thanks a ton mate, you are truly helpful. I never expected this much of welcoming from an unknown space.

For getting tokens ignored should we apply shitpost everywhere and join spam each and every campaign board???

You nailed it bud. Great job.

I don't get it. What does this have to do with the price of the Cooper Member upgrade?
Not sure which part you are unsure about. Please excuse my newb writing style  Smiley

Not to upgrade:
The copper membership was suggested so that image can be enabled for me. It would be nice to have images enabled however I figured out I am not desperate for it ATM.

The North Korea stuffs:
To response hilariousetc statement, "Not sure if it's the same price for everyone though."

It is the same price for everyone (0.00208333BTC).
It should be, isn't it? My confusion was from this: "Looks like the price is fixed."

It doesn't.

I don't think there's a reason to discuss relative wealth here...

OP is original post or original poster. You ignore a user not a post so in this case it's original poster.

~Original post snip~

This happens a lot, I'll teach you another function, on the bottom right of a post there's a report to moderator button, it's even better than the ignore button in a lot of cases!

Another educational tip, that's the altcoin section, in a few weeks/months you'll learn that if yo upost a topic there you won't get a definitive answer. You'll just get peopel replying to something similar to your question but not give you an actual answer, people rephrasing your question and asking it again or people that rephrase your question and ask their own. That is if you get a response with those users churning out 60 topics every five minutes!

Stick to the good parts of the forum and leave the spammers where they are we don't want them to swamp the good parts too.

Says BTC0.00208333 which is around fifteen dollars for me. Not sure if it's the same price for everyone though.
It will not be the same for everyone. I was watching some videos about North Korea other day, it was sad to know that people over there are earning $1 - $3 a month (keyword $1 - $3 a month!). I hope I am really wrong.

Here is a reference: https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-average-salary-that-North-Koreans-make

Back to the membership things, thank you for offering me however I do not have much urgency to have the feature now. I am ok to wait until I have the desire rank for it.

For me it also states 0.00208333 BTC
The price for a membership should be same for everyone or there are something else? Just curious to know by the way.

Looks like the price is fixed. Here is a quote from theymos where he states the same price (0.00208333 BTC).

I see two transactions from you, both for 0.00018580 BTC. 0.00018580*2 = 0.0003716 BTC, which is less than the 0.00208333 BTC copper membership.

@hilariousetc, thanks for the response. I see there is a link to report and hopefully I will use it often. It really looks annoying. How do I buy a copper membership and how much is that little amount? Image is one thing I am missing a lot  Smiley

Thank you The Pharmacist. I am doing my reading and I am finding it interesting as I am digging. After reading you, it started to make sense for me LOL. However, the amount of money I have seen the forum gives for the signature, is not really much. Spamming and shitposting for that amount is really waste of time. Where is this Bitcoin Discussion by the way?

You can report users like that as having advertisements/banners outside of signature isn't allowed.

Reported. Good catch, OP.
Actually, the spam problem, as told, is all over the forum. Join some of the discussions in here, you will find some passionate debates regarding the matter, and since you seem concerned, probably you will get some good answers here in meta.

Look at this user: tharoosta - http://archive.is/c9vT6

I found him on this page: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/annpre-ico-timechain-metawallet-exchange-token-sale-is-about-to-go-live-4554694

He is always including a telegram logo, a big image with his comments. It really looks annoying.

My eyes are hurting after reading this guy.

OP, do more reading here.  I think anyone who's been on bitcointalk for more than a few months knows exactly what you're talking about--just do a little reading in Meta and all the rants about shitposters.  In fact, do a search in Meta for "shitposter"

If you didn't know, word leaked out in many different countries that you could earn money here by renting out your signature and avatar space and by doing different spamming bounties.  That's why a lot of people came here, and the signature campaigns usually pay per post, and usually only in the English sections.  Combine that with the fact that many members have a poor grasp of the language, and you get exactly what you see:  a bunch of nonsense posts, many of which sound the same.

Look at Bitcoin Discussion.  That should be the crown jewel of bitcointalk, but it's become a snake pit of idiotic spam.  People know they can write a bunch of garbage, since no one actually reads anything there and whatever they write won't usually get reported as a shitpost because it's supersandwiched in between 1000 other shitposts.  When I discovered the forum it was the first thing I noticed as well.
