Even being a bug of the wallet provider and not blockchain of bitcoin its wizzard to see a bitcoin wallet with negative balance, in fact is the first time i do see this even being a bug from blockchain.info its had surprised me a big companie like them to have such issues. The same way the change they made now charge to moove bitcoin inside their plattafform before we could transfer inside funds without any fee.

Yeah it is pretty normal in a wallet called blockchain.info.That is a bug that happens normally though you cannot spend it because of the negative balance.I think that it is not shou should worry about because it seems pretty normal with that one.

If negative balance shown how can we spend the actual amount it was the serious bug addressed to developers hope it will resolve soon otherwise look at ether

Agree sort of it is a bug but im just confuse what will happen if you deposited a bitcoin on that address is it added or not? it would be minus to the negative balance or not? But all in all we all know that it is a bug so the developers will work with it to fix it. It is my firsttime to hear and read that and also saw.

It is just another visual bug blockchain.info explorer have, check the same address in btc.com you will see 0 Bitcoin
https://btc.com/12AKRNHpFhDSBDD9rSn74VAzZSL3774PxQ
It is the same with other blockchain explorers, for example blocktrail: https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/address/12AKRNHpFhDSBDD9rSn74VAzZSL3774PxQ
Final balance is definitely zero. It is visual bug of blockchain.info - known for a long time, when you see something like that just know that it is not correct.
When in doubt always check tx/address in others explorers as well.

That's definitely not normal IMO and I haven't seen one like that in my ~6 months with BTC, perhaps that address participated in some double spend, hence actually spent more than it's actual balance and displayed the negative.
Also this is just BC.info view, if you view it in chain.so it's normal with 0 there.

Thank you very much for your explanation, I was shocked at first when I saw the topic and I had to read the replies until I met yours which has explained things so nicely to me.

glad i could help.

While rare I have seen some of these in the past. I think it has something to do with some wallets that get private keys registered in them while having a change to the public key from what it was before. Then, once it is spent, the balance is labeled as a negative balance because it never registered any inputs into the address.

I may just be stupid but that's the only thing I've thought it could be related to.

this is actually not rare, specially these days with all the stuck transactions and all the RBF transactions that are technically creating a new transaction, blockchain.info will show both of them and will deduce the amoun twice leading to negative (or lower than it should be) balance.

i don't understand what you mean by private key and public key though! there is only one possible bitcoin address (public key) for each private key (if you consider compressed and uncompressed then 2) and you spend why you receive! or maybe i don't understand what you are trying to say?

12AKRNHpFhDSBDD9rSn74VAzZSL3774PxQ  A btc address like any other, but the amount displayed for this address seems to be  incorrect, any explanations?

I don't think it is normal to have a bitcoin address or wallet that has a negative value because it is like having debt and soon you need to pay that debt in order to use it again and back to normal but if i were you, i will just ignore that wallet and try to make a new one because that is not normal and it is risky to use it again.

yes, it is perfectly possible on a buggy platform called blockchain.info!
they actually used to show these kinds of stuff differently with a red warning on top of the page saying this address has done a double spend but i don't know why they removed it!

and this transaction is causing the bug in that block explorer: https://blockchain.info/tx/a35a5c0b334098c70bd2d955d0ecb23075eca72f42d3bf90b8a2f50fcddd07b9

and it is because the "balance" field is just a simple sum of (received - send) and since there is an additional "invalid" transaction which they don't drop for some weird reason the sum is negative.

This is the first time I've heard of a bitcoin address with negative balance but according to the comments on this thread, it is just normal and it happened a few times before especially with blockchain. Just wait a day or two and everything will be back to normal again.

If there is a sighting of an incorrect address what does Btc do with a negative balance?

Its important to understand that this is not BTC bug but blockchain.info website. Website just show you wrong value, if Bitcoin would make that bugs, price would not be that high and people won't use it that much Smiley

I've seen some bitcoin wallet in negative but it will get fixed soon possibly this was caused by the double spending the transaction or maybe the bug on the blockchain website i guess and it isn't normal. I could be wrong though.

blockchain.info is not a web wallet in the normal sense, It is two things - as it also is a block explorer, the above looks like it was caused by a bug in their block explorer. It could also be due to a double spent transaction.

This is the first time that I am seeing a negative balance on a Bitcoin wallet. It seems like the blockchain.info double-counted two "sent coins" transactions. I think that the balance will be updated to zero once the double count is rectified.
Like me bro, this my first time se the wallet address with negative balances I dont know why it is happen. I dont know also what is the problem of this. Maybe they have bugs on your wallet.

Anyway may I ask what kind of wallet are you using? It is blockhain or conbase.? Try to contact the support that they have problem to your wallet so they see the main reason and they resolve it. Goodluck I hope you resolve this.

What bitcoin wallet are you using? Try to contact their support and ask about this problem, I know this is just some bugs on their system, and they didn't know about it, so if you are going to consult it to them, they will fix this as soon as possible. I've never experienced this before, but trust me, contacting their support is the best idea so far. Smiley
We dont know what wallet do he use since its been showing negative balance and i can say ive seen this kind of scenario on the past which someone do have negative balance on his wallet. Its just really on bug issues on a certain wallet and you are right the best way is to informed the wallet provider through their support. If the wallet address isnt important to you then better to create a new one than bothering yourself on thinking on it.
