This sideways price action shouldn't bug you except if all your funds are all in one place.. If so, then take some of it out and look for better opportunities. It's also good to spread out your funds to minimize risk..
This may seem like a good option but things are not so easy, people try to chase profits and in their efforts to get profits they lose money, this happens all the time, you see people buying the hottest coin and they buy for a bad price, the coin goes down in value and now they need to decide if they keep holding hoping for the coin to recover its value or sell and admit they made a costly mistake.

I think the market needs a breather.
The up and down with the high volatility in the past month, that was surely eating up the nerves of many traders. I can understand if they want to get a few quiet days.
What I find interesting is that we did not see more movement in the bitcoin price after the NEM theft. Maybe we are really moving into a more quiet phase these days which will last longer.

I'm bullish either and though it's happier to see bitcoin at $20,000 but this must happen to balance things out. This is also a good movement for those FUDsters that are calling bitcoin a bubble, a bubble that went through $20,000 down to $9,000 and is now quite stable at $11,000. This is much better than seeing it go lower at $8,000 and so on.
I quite agreed with you on this  it's very frustrating  to see the price of bitcoin ranging for a numbers of days ago the price had been oscillating between resistance and support which makes it difficult to trade, I belief when CME future contracts is over the price will be bullish again however the price reaching $20,000 soon is not realistic.
How much you bought bitcoin? If you're holding since $1,000 there's nothing to be frustrated of.

I've been watching the price hover around $11k for what seems like an eternity... I'm sure we're all wondering is it going to boom soon or go further bearish? Well I've been researching and once this CME futures contract expires on Jan. 26, 2018 we will see some price action for sure mark my words, what's your opinion will it boom up to around $20k or shoot down to around $8k? I'm bullish, Bitcoin to the moon! At least until it busts, we shall see.
Bitcoin is going to keep moving sideways until someone or something makes it move in one of the two ways. It's not going to be simple for market movements from here on out either. There's going to be a lot of stagnation since absolutely everyone is scared to get invested but those who have Bitcoin are too greedy to sell and are waiting to see if they can sell at a higher value. Then you have the bagholders who are trying their hardest to not sell at a loss, etc.

Sure it's painful to go through but it'll probably be good for the community at the end of it.

We are sort of stuck at that price and its really frustrated to see that we are not making any headway on a direction that we wanted to see bitcoin go. There are a lot of speculation that when the future contracts ends, we will see another bull run but it looks like we are not really getting there.

I'm sure that we can get and pass $20K but it will not be so fast as we expected it to be. I doubt that it will go down to $8K though, investors are just waiting, observing and see what will be the best time to enter the market. So if it fall to $10K, those who have been waiting will suddenly jump and take that opportunity.

Don't let others control your BTC -> self custody
I think it would be a good idea to give yourself a break from all this if it's making you frustrated. The move will come sooner or later and it can come while you're sleeping, there's not much you can do about it and it's not worth losing health for.
You got to realize that this sideways movement is something normal. Those who sold are looking for an opportunity to buy back, thus they're waiting for a huge move or just cautiously going in with small money. You can see that it's always similar amounts being sold and bought in all those sideways moves. Holders are holding while traders are trading. They're waiting for someone to lead the way,

To be honest, i too have been worrying about this because i have invested on $9000+ and i wouldn't want to suffer losses or regret selling early. But still, i will never budge. I will stay strong and hold until December. I will never let myself sell my bitcoins again. Specially now that the lightning network is about to be implemented this year, i think bitcoin will be reaching all time highs again. Having said all these, i will buy more if it still sits at the same price next week and then never look at its prices. I will just hold until i reach the desired time of collecting funds.

Yes, you are right mate from past few weeks price moving nowhere and just hovering between 10k to 11k and it is really killing me. But the reason behind this is that there is no participation from the professional traders and I think they will only enter only when the correction is over and the supply is zero and demand is stronger than supply. And I think this is going to prove by this week and I have already started investing on small scale and once there price breaches 15k I will invest on a big scale and hold them for the target of 20k. 25k till it reaches 40k by this year-end.

Yes, i agree with you that all this bullish movement will start once the Contract ends or near to end and that will be mostly starting by this week so better invest and start investing.

You are not the only one who do experience that feeling and for sure most of us will really have that kind of waiting time. Market is indeed on sideways but we wont even know on where those prices go in next month or in this month but basing on the fundamentals we would able to tell we would really run on bullish trend. We are all hoping the same thing and all we need now is patience.

Alot is going on at the back end and that is why there are a lot of indecision and uncertainty which trap bitcoin a little over $11,000. I am thinking, we would see another serious move if the issue with future trade is over we would see a little fluctuations and bitcoin is going to pump up at the holding as cme is very insignificant.

But yes very true when it's down it allows new money to come in which is very nec. for our long-term growth and bullish$100k-$1mil/BTC expectations!

Agreed this kind of trend is really killing me but not because of lack of profit but how the market will react after the consolidation ends as it can either go up or down from what I am seeing. Additionally there is a buzz lately about the Futures closing in January 26 which they recalled that the clousur of CBOE futures on January 15 made a 34.5% decline of BTC's price. But that is not the only catalyst as the networks fees of BTC are getting cheaper as well as the number of nodes and channels in the Lightning Network are increasing so it can really go up or down at the end of this conso.

although we don't know when the price will go up and how much it will reach, I am sure that bitcoin price could increase up to around $20k and maybe even more. but maybe we need more time to see the price increase high because we almost one month in this situations there are many new people come to cryptocurrency and it gives an impact on bitcoin price too. and if the price is down to around $8k, many people become panic and they cannot wait too long and maybe they will sell their bitcoin.

It is not the best analogy but the bulls and the bears are tired and that is why they push with the exact same strength and this is why you do not see any movement, I do not know about you but I'm still exhausted by all the growth that bitcoin had in the last year, in fact I'm still in disbelief it happened that fast, I'm sure there were many people that thought that bitcoin will crash after reaching 2k and never imagined it could reach 10x that amount and that are lamenting selling for such a bad price.

Yeah its definitely not as fun watching it go up, but like a lot of people have come to realize, it's kind of necessary to trade sideways every now and then for periods of time.

You seem to think a few weeks is a long time when it comes to markets. The stock market takes much longer to exhibit such strong growths and drops as bitcoin, so I think you should cut crypto some slack here just due to the fact that it's pretty fast in comparison to literally every other market out there.

I think we'll definitely see a bit of a rise, but I don't know if that will be complemented by a strong correction as well. I wouldn't be surprised if it is, because it seems like the CME futures contract expiry is an event that many people have been waiting for to dump their coins.
