I agree that they handled the violin incident incorrectly. This is the problem with large companies, they institute policy and blindly follow it regardless of the situation. Had Paypal been a small company someone would have probably taken the time to investigate further and not requested destruction of the item.

Thinking back to all the times I have been pissed off at a company/business, it was always a big corporation.

They'll still send you the scam emails. Heck, likely they don't know enough English to even read the post you made more than what's needed to send the boilerplate scam response anyway.

Personally, I've never had any problems with Paypal, nor ebay and the couple of issues I've had with sellers have been resolved quickly and to my satisfaction. I am aware of the horror stories though and am definitely not happy with the way Paypal has taken things (once upon a time, you didn't have to have an account to buy things)

Actually - you're incorrect on both companies.

Paypal's layoffs are a sure sign that the company is struggling. Now given that they're enmeshed with ebay they probably won't go away entirely, but I'd be downright shocked if we don't see them being reduced to 'one of many' on the billing side of ebay within the next year or two.

Apple's on the way out. Job's is gone - and Apple's already too greedy to survive much longer. They'll ride idevices for another few years before the tech ages enough that they can't just reskin it and call it an upgrade, and then itunes will carry them for 5 or 10 more years, since people who've invested in purchases there won't walk away from it quickly.

But with Google jumping into the tablet market (and frankly destroying apple on cost, usability and tech) and microsoft redesigning windows to power handheld devices it won't be long before apple is exactly what it's always been before - 'advanced hardware at time of release, but no innovation and no ability to adapt to the marketplace' - aka it will settle to 15% of the market again.

Paypal simply does not care. They punish the Seller for their inability to correctly process payments. Then when you complain they limit your account. I still remember speaking to the pompous paypal rep. Infuriating.

my point was that the paypal division (purely the payment gateway) wont get killed off. because of the profits of its Ebay division. you cant kill the kid because daddy is protecting it. basically.

2 random cents that they take back. They more than make up for that crap by limiting thousands of accounts with money still inside it. I know my account had more than a small fortune in it. A fortune I had to wait 180 days to recover. I wonder how much they made while holding it?
