Given the current rate of Bitcoin, today making investments is quite profitable and practically Trump's statements contributed to this.  I have the impression that this statement was made on purpose.  Donald Trump is a very smart businessman and he did not have to wait for rash statements.

Is this the Donald Pump we've been waiting for?

it seems that this week all the attention is focused on regulators, politicians and the US government... I would say that this is a very terrifying week. First donald trump comes on the scene with his twitter about bitcoin, then came the Treasury Secretary to make bad comments about bitcoin, then came the US Congress, now we have this:

Breaking: US Regulator Investigating Crypto Exchange BitMEX — Report

I wonder what's left to come

Not to sell but to buy the dip.

the best option is buy now and hold for 3 years, with Bitcoin halving happening next year and with launch of BAKKT, we will see many institutional investors and the price in the future may increase a lot

The long term result of his statement is good, the president speaking about bitcoin and regardless of how he commented it, that is considered a good thing to me. Market has fallen, we can obviously see it but the good thing is that it will not fall further, recovery is happening now and as it continue to rise, even slowly, that would make me think that we are up for a new high this month.
Personally, I do not see his statement as threat that much, the only signal it sent to me is that the technology would be taken serious by lots of people right now for it to have gotten to trump, it means they must have even debated about the system in the house, and no matter what trump says about bitcoin, there is no way it can really affect  it or kill it, the countries using bitcoin are way too much now for the resident of bitcoin to have any dominance over it.

I think he is just trying to protect the dollar, or probably trying to just support Facebook coin, being that the operator is from United states, and we all know that U.S likes to hold power, but I doubt if anyone will really flow with the Libra coin, being that it is a full centralized coin and a stable coin for that matter.

Donald Trump only said it on Twitter and it may have reached a lot of Twitter users but not enough to make everyone to be curious what Bitcoin is about. Also United States Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said something about Bitcoin. Lets just thank them for helping Bitcoin reach those who are unaware of its existence.

Is this the Donald Pump we've been waiting for?

Reversed marketing
Trump has more than 60 millions of  followers on his twitter and he mentioned bitcoin to them. You know how they say, that there is no such thing as bad advertising!! So don't fall for his statement about btc. I think you should do the opposite of what they want you to do. Not to sell but to buy the dip.
Giving attention to crypto is a sucess for holders. That means the game is on. Wanna buy cheap coins? Just make a bad statement about it and  buy cheaper. You fill your bag and then you come up with positive statements about crypto or bitcoin.

anything is possible because no one will find what is going on other person's mind set so if you think like that then there is both positive and negatives are there but here also had the idea about how to face the good and bad vibes easily.

Trump is a good businessman! He knows what he's doing!

I think both of those statements are demonstrably false.

Well I don't think so. For a businessman, yeah he is but for the latter, that's quite arguable because you may not actually know the intents of people.
To the OP, yeah we're not supposed to be shaken by his negative sentiments. Actually, Crypto has already seen worse from these "people" so I don't really give them much of my attention. I focus on how to make it in the cryptospace other than worrying about when it'll die.

We don't have to get the effect from these people, but unfortunately, we see many traders got the effect from his tweet and makes them sell their bitcoin. The effect of selling bitcoin too early made bitcoin price down too deep in yesterday. But gladly, now bitcoin price can increase slowly, and we could hope it will increase higher in the next week. We should be careful of the negative news that still comes out in around us, and we need to seek the truth before we decide.

people are allowed to express their mind concerning issues that relate to world finance and the policy that affect money. The President comments were not expected in that way since many of us believe that Trump is a businessman and he may support any technological advancements like bitcoin or blockchain! Since he has made the comment bitcoin has been going down and we expect that to happen. However, he will not be able to control bitcoin in the long run and the market is going to bance back.

At least he has known about bitcoin and assuming that bitcoin is really exist. Most investor only takes a conclusion based on the short term effect, when they see someone who has a popularity and talk a bad about bitcoin and they will decide to sell their bitcoin and otherwise.

But if I read his statement on the twitter that he is not fan of bitcoin I didn't really see that the statement gave a big affect to bitcoin price movement. Because everyone have a freedom to say like and dislike it is all depend on their perspective. The government regulation will be decided by conventation which is mean on the conventation there will be some people who pro and cons against a problem.

In the past even before he became the United States of America's president, he was disposed to the idea of bitcoin and many people see him as someone that will favor technological advancements as bitcoin and blockchain technology is one of the latest advancements of technology of our time but I was surprised to read his comments yesterday on Twitter about bitcoin and even tweet that he is not "fan of Bitcoin" It might be a strategy to buy low but personality I was disappointed.
I highly doubt he plans to enter in crypto world, being president, businessman and be in so much things all together and then also be interested in crypto world and plan to enter in it? Insane, requires a lot of energy. I think like others, he wants to test how his words can affect bitcoin's price to show others how great influence his words/posts have on anything that's not his game but still can affect and control everything.
Well, I Can see how strong bitcoin is now, even his own negative comment could not have any effect on bitcoin, if trump’s utterances could not have any negative effect on bitcoin, then this should send lots of signal to unbelievers and people who are yet to join the bitcoin community that bitcoin has come to stay, and I doubt if there is anything that can influence it negatively.

Bitcoin has really gone beyond trump, because we are beginning to have very powerful countries in terms of technology that are fully behind the system of cryptocurrency, take Japan for example, japan has been very friendly with cryptocurrency, and blockchain in quote, maybe because they understands technology fully more than any other countries you see out there.

Donald Pump? I would rather say that we are currently seeing Donald Dump.  Grin

It doesn't matter or makes sense on tying up his insights towards crypto that can affect the entire market movement.
He's negative with it so don't expect for such changed of view.

Perhaps the Donald Trump's statements had a definite purpose.  Everyone today can see that immediately after the publication of these words, the price in the cryptocurrency market has dropped significantly.  Based on this, I am already fully confident that it is impossible to predict something in advance, because any negative news can change all our plans for the future.

I think it is right to say that Donald does have a bit of power over the world being the leader of united states of america and all that. However contrary to all other people thinking that Donald is influencing the world in a bad way I feel like its actually good for us to have someone bad like him to actually increase the activism of good people.

When you have too many years of people like Obama and good things happen all around the world and even the image of USA gets better thanks to him, people who are more educated tend to keep focusing on their work and stop caring about politics since its doing very well, thanks to people like Donald we once again have educated and normal people finally getting out of their sleep and actually doing some activism starting with actually going to vote. So, Donald saying anything bad about bitcoin would in return mean amazing things for bitcoin very soon.

I don't check out Twitter too much but after looking around Trumps twitter I can tell you that place is extremely toxic and filled with paid trolls that reply to everyone of his comments.  That place is too stressful for me and I would rather not ever look at it again.

Whoever still allows Donald trump tweet to have any effect on them or control their emotion is still not ready for liberation, I don’t expect Donald trump to ever support bitcoin because of it being a decentralized coin. I am waiting for Libra coin of Facebook to be released first ,  and then hear trump’s stand on it, it is then I will know if they are trying to control cryptocurrency or not.

Of course we wanted to see Trump reacting to Libra once it is released. However, we have seen US lawmakers doing everything to stop so I guess we don't need Trump's stance of Libra, I'm smelling a hard line stance for him as well.

Bitcoin is doing fine without the input of trump and I don’t see reason why anyone should be threatened by his speech. If anyone that is not so strong enough panic to allow the tweet to affect them, then it will still be a plus to me and to many people who is willing to buy from those who will panic sell at a cheaper rate because I am looking for every opportunity right now to get a cheaper bitcoin before the bull run.

Just do remember that Bitcoin is still a speculative asset and anyone specially with a higher position saying anything will have a effect. But the good thing is that people just ignore Trump, as the prices didn't tank as we has expected. So his statement doesn't bring any weight in the long run. So we should thank Trump for the free publicity.

Where is my ring of blades...
that was my initial reaction to this tweet too. there is no bad advertisement and it has put bitcoin on the radar of millions of people who saw this tweet and millions more who read about it all over the internet in the following days after it. and that is one of the reason why I have been very surprised in the past couple of days to see the market reaction which has been mostly passive to this news. I suppose part of it can be because of the fact that people got scared and wanted to wait to see what happens before doing anything.
also someone mentioned the altcoin dumps that might have been the reason for this pressure on bitcoin price preventing it from rising up.
