In that case we can say that DeFi is scam, NFT is scam, Metaverse is scam, etc. Web3 is very popular among developers of new cryptocurrency projects. And where there is a hype, there are always plenty of scammers who want to get rich quick. It's always been like that, as soon as some technology appeared, there was always a wave of scams around it. Web3 has a development perspective, so this crypto-trend is definitely worth watching, but at the same time, more carefully check the projects that are trying to integrate this technology into their projects. Very often it happens that it is done only to attract money to the project and nothing else.

Hello,
Is web3 scam? How about https://web3isgoinggreat.com/?
Is web3 vs Blockchain?

Thank you.

I think you just misunderstood Web 3. Look, web3 does not mean a website or a crypto project. Web 3 is the next version of the internet or web. That means it is a protocol on which other websites or projects can be built. But it does not mean this is the real Web3 or a fake Web 3. Remember, web3 is not a website, it is just a concept. Now, anything built, such as social media, gaming, or crypto projects that claim to be web 3, is considered web 3. That means they just build their projects on the concept of Web3, which is decentralized. And the concept is decentralized. The decentralized concept is based on blockchain, so it's not about web3 vs blockchain. Web 3 is yet another blockchain concept. I hope you understand. Thank you.

It’s not. Some people are trying to push it as future of communication. But after all, for a while, no one thought bitcoin would strike big, right? In that sense, then, web3 is as much of a vision of the future as any startup or crypto-currency is.

Web 3.0 is not a scam, they are simply, IMO, evolution stages as we use the internet. Basically, we have evolved from web 1.0 to web 2.0. Web 2.0 is basically the web type of application that is currently in use today as we interact with the internet while Web 3.0 represents its next phase, which will be decentralized, open, and of greater utility.

However, Web 2.0 have numerous short comings that have posed some challenges in recent times. Web 2.0 facilitates posting of too much information on the web. There is also security issues such as unauthorized use of people's data, etc. It is expected that web 3.0 will overcome most problems of web 2.0. You can visit these sites (https://coinmarketcap.com/alexandria/article/what-is-web-3-0); (https://metamandrill.com/web-3-0/) to gain more insight.

Web3 is not a scam. Scams can use the Web3 label to pull in victims. So if you see Web3 it’s difficult to tell just from that label whether it’s a legitimate project or a scam. You have to dig deeper.

This has nothing with dev & tech discussion. Probably move it into the altcoin section or something similar since most of the time you're referring to them when you talk about web 3.0.

It is not as simple as web3 vs blockchain, sometimes event blockchain is claimed to be part of web3.0 itself. Event the definition is sometimes being contested.
