Some people here, have no idea what they write. All revolutions in the history were violent. Were the french revolutionists terrorists? Or the Greek revolutionists? Or the American revolutionists?

But there are many examples of major changes and revolutions that don't need a civil war. And of course the changes isis wants are worse than staying with the dictator assad as bad as he is. Hopefully the syrian people will be able to rid themselves of both soon.
