Maybe we should tell Isis leave Bitcoin alone, you guys can use Dash. Bitcoin is for good people, dash has better privacy protection.

If we change the name to DAESH it might even be more attractive.  Cheesy

This article says:
"ISIS has even tried -- with unknown results -- to exploit Bitcoin accounts to raise money overseas, even putting out an English-language guide."
http://www.cnn.com/2016/03/04/middleeast/isis-finance-broke-lister/index.html

Has anyone seen this?  Seems like the Bitcoin community would have a copy if it were true.  Maybe this is just made up BS?  Otherwise, we should see a copy of this document somewhere around here.  I think journalists make up about half of the crap they write.
this is not good for bitcoin development, bitcoin should clear from being used for illegal activity, because bitcoin need clear way to introduced to newbie and general people who still dont know bitcoin,if that newbie know that bitcoin used by isis, mybe they never want use bitcoin.

The article noticed many sources of funding used by Isis not only Bitcoin, and even bitcoin is from the last choices for them, they use Banks and oil and so on. So focus in just that Bitcoin is used by them have another bad goal in my opinion.

Whatever the truth is, why hasn't fiat been 'banned' for being used bu drug lords and mobsters, terrorists and governments to wage war on humankind? The media seems to be trying to play foul as usual by tarnishing Bitcoin because it upsets the establishments that be and of course who runs the mass media corporations anyway? So I think it's a lod of nonsense that there is so much fear being whipped up around Bitcoin and its uses. Unfortunately you get the best and worst in human nature, some will use bitcoin as a force for good, others foe evil, it's as simple as that really.

With fiat you have something like regulation after the fact. With Bitcoin they are trying to regulate before it gets too big. They've been relatively coy on Bitcoin and do not seem to be using the obvious tools to regulate it. My suspicion is that they figure if they treat it as just 'weirdo internet money' that does not even get proper laws that people will ignore it.

of course we can not reject and  prevent terrorists to use and hold bitcoin, whether true or not this news will not make some people leave bitcoin, and I know, CNN is a trusted news portal.

there is no evidence that the ISIS using bitcoin as a currency for their transactions, but most likely they are to use it, because bitcoin is also often used for things that are illegal, such as buying weapons

I would like to see that ISIS' tutorial. But this is probably nothing more than bitcoin address with the DONATE sign.
They are selling oil for $500 millions per year, rob banks for over $400 millions, sell antiques for $100 millions - and press is making a fuss over bitcoin donations?
Bitcoin is probably less than 0.01% of ISIS money, probably even less.

It doesn't even matter that the article is made up crap, the simple truth is that Bitcoin is like a dream come true for groups like ISIS, it's the perfect way for them to accept donations from their supporters around the world without either side having to reveal a lot of info. And if they're not using it yet, it's only a matter of time before they do.

Nah. There's lots of tech savvy folks involved. Exploiting the internet and media has been a key element in them getting places. I'm sure Bitcoin is on their radar.

They excel at social media and video production. They give awful opsec and encryption advice up to and including 'rolling their own crypto.'

I think its possible but you have to keep in mind almost every currency is used for it so its not to stop.
Also there is no real proof this is true and until that there is nothing to worry right ?

I wouldn't be surprised if some terrorist organizations use bitcoin to move assets around, but so what?
