Posibble, blockchain.info wallet is the one of web wallet service which have a trouble and the users already there are have been lost their coins on that wallet. If you won't to happens this, you should use cold wallet or desktop wallet.

Yes, nothing is 100% safe.

IMHO a local wallet is safer than an online wallet. That is unless you have a habit of getting infected easily. If you have an old laptop use that just for your wallet. They dont need much and you can mess with your main machine all you want. An old smartphone can work as well.

Of course all of this can be attacked as well, but the chances that you are targeted are smaller and you can keep your wallet offline until you use it if you use a dedicated device for this.
