Just said this in another thread: look at Liverpool right now. Klopp said it is like a lottery every morning when the team wakes up waiting for their first test results. Now he himself is positive. Even in this coming week nobody knows how hard one of the teams might be hit by the virus and Italy is pretty strict about it.
I like this description of lottery, you never know who will be the next infected player and how many he contacted before testing positive... Many EPL teams were affected by the virus and there was many postponed games. In Serie A the situation isn't better but the decision of postponing games aren't taken easily letting teams criticise each others and blame health authorities for taking or not any decision.
I would say that this new variant called omicron is a bit different compared to others. Both UK and Italy have around 150k+ new cases every single day and that is a horrible situation obviously, every nation is getting a lot more people sick and it is sad to see people dying all the time because of it.
However, the death numbers are not as increasing as the new case numbers, normally let's say from one date to another if the new cases increased 2x, then death usually increased nearly as much, because if 1 out of 100 dies, then 10 out of 1000 dies and 100 out of 10k dies, that is how it goes, sure a few would move give or take, like 8-12 and not exactly 10, but you get the point. This time around death numbers didn't change as much as the new cases did, so it means that we are getting a bit more immune towards it and that is a great news, still better to be ready for anything but at least there is a slither of hope.
