hey, you still might be right you know.  $12 by tomorrow right?
no, i'm talking about my prediction of a buy up to $10.7 for 20k btc (back when the price was 10.5 and it required 20k btc to get to $10.7).  I was wrong. instead the "market" did it over time and no big player did it in one big move.

I know I still will be right about my other prediction of $12 by the end of the 27th

I'm glad I took the bet on your side lol  Grin
lol you're crazy.
it's only a good bet if you know what I know.
thanks for setting up the bet on betsofbitcoin tho.

I hope you bought at ~$9.7 when I posted that prediction Smiley

well, i guess someone made a move, but not THE move.   They placed a 10k bid at $10.7 instead of 20k like i predicted

Isn't the bitinstant thing going to actually be a net neutral at best?  As far as I can see it's just going to create more demand for BTC holders to use them, which means it will actually increase the sell-side of the equation as BTC are converted back to national currencies.

I think their reasoning of saying it could be huge is it can be used similar to western union for less fee, so it would increase demand for BTC from people who would never otherwise care about it.

What we need is more actual goods and services brought into the bitcoin fold - this is what makes a currency increase in value over the long term;  the faster growth of the underlying product base than the supply of money.  I think it's great, this whole debit card thing, don't get me wrong. That being said, the bitcoin economy itself needs more of an actual economy of goods and services.

I say not online news blogs and you show me news blog?  lol
Show me the footage on CNN channel then I will get excited.  Tongue

It is big press. It's a new peak on Google Insights since the summer of 2011. That CNN article was in the "most popular" list for 12 hours that day.

Here is a list of the articles: http://blog.bitinstant.com/blog/2012/8/23/the-press-and-the-paycard.html

My site, which is a Finnish Bitcoin portal, got a record amount of visits thanks to our article on this. That is actually quite significant, because we were featured lately on a very mainstream TV show with over 500 000 viewers, in the biggest channel in Finland. Even that didn't attract as many visits as the news on the Debit card, which went totally viral in Facebook etc.

Our visitor count per day has been over one thousand lately on many days and the site is solely for Finnish people. The numbers that BitInstant has been getting have to be insane.

I think any sane person would look at the bitcoin volatility and think "maybe another time".
I think most of the reaction to news comes from the community itself becoming bullis when 'their' bitcoin gets exposure.
Notice how little the price reacts to this news compared to the movement 2 weeks ago.
I would say that the effect of the news coverage is still insignificant compared to the genral mood of current coin owners.

it's not to late to make a move, rally is about to start, those +$10.6 walls are going down, one way or another
yea, i agree those walls are going down no matter what. but, my prediction was that some big player would buy it up to $10.7 in one move. getting him 20k btc for ~$210k.  I still think there will be a big move to $10.7, but not as big as I had predicted.

well, its looking like its too late to make the move that i had predicted.  The reason i predicted that move is because, knowing what i know, that's exactly what i would do if i had $220k.  I would want to make sure I made the move before someone else did because I think it was the last chance for a big investor to get 20k btc for <$220k.

The thing is, you see, it don't care what you say. One made it on there, the other didn't, ergo one is bigger press relative to the other. You can adjust the goalposts to fit any theory you may have, but that wasn't the argument being posited,

fcmatt is, in my humble opinion, wrong. The pressure to go up is tremendous. We've just had the biggest press by far since the big hype of the summer and some of the latest developments have potential become bigger than silk road. I have topped the level of my bullishness previously many times but I have to say that lately I've reached a new top. Considering total all in isn't actually that far fetched for me personally.

Any visit to below $10 will be at most very temporary at this point.

What was the big press? You dont mean that credit card talk, do you?

Big press to me lately is pirate and the so far theft of 100-500k btc.  that cannot be bullish in my mind.

One made it onto CNN Money, the other didn't. Guess which one is big?
