I wonder if this guy had access to his coin the whole time, but his wallet just hadn't synced the blockchain, so he couldn't see it...

give me your cryptos
Offline, it will use the genesis address AFAIK. One you connect the app to the internet it will try to create a new address. In this case, it did. But as long as you received the bitcoin in your wallet, you're fine.

Hi!

Maybe (for sure) this is a dummy question, but I haven't found an answer online...
This is the (short) story.

1)i bought 0.2 btc on localbitcoins.com. everything ok
2)i read the wallet's addres on my smartphone, then i proceeded for the BTC transfer
3)during this operation my smartphone was offline, so, when i realized that, i put it online.
4)now, the address is not the same, and the money, i believe (but i don't want) are lost.... it's true??

(I saw on blockchain and the transaction is confirmed....)

please... help me! if is still possible  Cry

of course, your money is safe, if you are sending it to the first address. your bitcoin should have entered moreover confirmed. And for blockchain the wallet are connected with other wallet in your case. So your money will be fine. Thank you

try to find out whether in your wallet you have more than one address, sometimes the main address changed without letting the owner know however, this problem commonly happen for xapo users, their address changed automatically and become random, however if there's a support on your app try to contact them, when address just gone or you just lost control of it nothing we can do

If you have just lost your Bitcoin there is still always a chance that you can come back but with the price this high and you cannot buy them then you should find a other way to earn Bitcoins.
Maybe with gambling but as we all know that is a pretty risky thing to do.

All you can do for today is try to contact the support. If you cannot contact them then you just have to wait but theres no guarantee that your btc will go back to you. Your case has  occured already to one of my colleagues so next time before sending any coins to your wallet double check it if  your address have changed or not just for safety measures.

Hello, I use the same wallet app as you, it's the "Bitcoin" app with the orange bitcoin logo. This wallet is very commonly used, though most people back up their wallet before sending any coins to it. Did you happen to create a backup for the wallet upon creation? (when I set up mine it made me give it a code to password protect the back-up).

Most the time with these wallets, you can have many different addresses associated with the same wallet. I think you said that you can see the address when accessing your "Address book" but can't access it.

Could this possibly be a problem with maybe the app not syncing with the blockchain properly?

Have you tried going into the settings and clicking the diagnostics tab and using the "Reset BlockChain" Feature? This might be what's up.

I am by no means an expert at this though, from what I understand doing this does nothing but make sure the blockchain copy your app is running off of reflects the true blockchain, so there's no risk of losing your private keys or the system being reset to a new wallet.

That being said, since I'm not an expert you might want to wait for someone to chime in and tell us if this sounds like a good or bad idea first. I would hate to make the situation worse.

Hope you figure it out!! If you do figure it out, what ever wallet you do decide to store it in, back it up and save a few copies for peace of mind Smiley

Hope I've helped.

Ok, there's a big new! Now i can find my old address on the app, but it seems that i can't use it... Do you know I can do it?
most probably if you have found only a bitcoin address you will not be able to do anything with it, because in order to spend any of it you will need a private key to it

i dont know how but it seems that you generated your wallet address offline thus your money went to that wallet, now you should somehow get back to that address and its private key, thats pretty much the only thing you can do now

What wallet are you using? i know that breadwallet only uses an address once and then moves onto another which is the recommended thing to do by the way..... it should show up.

i think that you still should be ok and you will get your money, as sometimes your wallet have 2 or more addresses so if you get money to one of them you still will get your money

but next time you should be more careful with your money, you should even check if you type correct wallet 2 times when sending larger amounts of money, next time you will know that

You are sooooo much right.... even if i'll take back my btc, i'll have learn the lesson  Roll Eyes

This is a great refresh for my hope... in your opinion why the transaction is confirmed on blockchain but not on my wallet? it was 30 minutes ago, i should wait a little bit more??
btw, thanks for your reply Smiley

Can you share a tx?
How many confirmations are there?

There are 4 confirmations...
the fx is 30ca3cba5cfb82ae2cad1505be9ea880076d595f1dfcbaf6d9818bd65a5efdc9

Share your original address you want bitcoin to and the transaction detail from localbitcoins. If you have multiple address in your wallet it may still be there in another address of your wallet check all addresses you have in your wallet. Which online wallet you have in your phone?

the address is 1BKXadDg2PnPe1Pxnz3SZotXV2dRdCw4xg
I have "bitcoin" app on my phone (orange logo).. And no, it seems that there isn't other addresses... but if I go offline and I come back the address change...
