This is GREAT news for BTC. not so great for western nations though. yet again the japanese are going to dominate the west. I have no problem with that. most of my appliances and my car is japanese made. to the victor go the spoils!
I would not say Japan is leading in BTC technology and market and probably never would. Japanese people are pretty old school believe me or not. The only place they are on par with west civilisation are maybe Tokyo and couple big cities. Rest of Japan is not that developed. And they probably never heard about bitcoin at all.

Yes they are traditional. Been in Tokyo almost 10 year ago and they are traditional even in big cities.
But i agree, only in big cities will people now about not just bitcoin but others cryptos

Their underground will take it. You know, the ones with giant full body tattoos.

You mean the Yakuza?

Yes. Them. They will accept bitcoins as donations and help their country in times of natural calamities. During normal times, they'll accept bitcoin as payments for whatever it is they usually do to accept the Yen.

I'm pretty sure they've got geeks on their payroll already. Those guys will accept bitcoin as part of, or in replacement of their salaries.

The Korean board has 599 posts and the Japanese board only 91 posts.  Chinese board has 242671 posts. Is there any reason why it is more popular in China?

Interesting observation. I think we should ask our fellow japanese and korean bitcoiners. Maybe bitcoin isn't trendy over there yet  Tongue

The post count doesn't necessarily reflect popularity. There's no separate UK board, but there's plenty of Brits on btctalk, may be similar case for Japanese, if they're English is decent, they'd probably be active in the main forum. Or maybe they have other, more popular BTC forum in Japan.

It was the failure of Mt. Gox that finally spurred prime minister Shinzo Abe’s government to issue its first major proclamation about bitcoin on March 7, and it’s fair to say that Japan’s stance is still a work in progress.

Good to see good news for Japan btc community.

japan or south korea may not matter - but mt.gox does.

china matters - because they are harming bitcoin more then doing good. Everyone should already know the primary driver behind last rise was not chinese demand, but bot and exchange reserve manipulation and insider trading. chinese news was more hype then substance no matter their supposed volume that is heavily manipulated.

Bitcoin and crypto does not need these nations - it will be they who will follow and accept bitcoin, not the other way around.

I think that Japan and S. Korea are very important in global economy.
So, if Japan is officially a Bitcoin friendly country, this is very good news for bitcoin community.
Hopefully, China will follow Japan soon and accept bitcoin to Smiley

But this is something else. And this will not be good in other words.
When politics and some other thing are involved then its never good.

Hope not to see this happening.

Japan may not be a problem and forbidden to bitcoin, because we know that it comes from the country's founders. and we should cherish it. that if it is true inventor comes from there. I do not know, I still can not be sure about that

China will nowhere follow Japan. That are their biggest enemies. Well most of the world is also since China was backstabbed at end of WW1. China have great memory. They never forget!

but the MT.GOX  incident has affected his reputation.
Previously, the Court of the United States (US) bankruptcy protection on Mt. Gox, the first and largest Bitcoin exchange. Mt. Gox has been relieving themselves in Japan in February, since admitted losing 750,000 Bitcoin induced hackers. Under chapter 15, the US courts will recognize foreign bankruptcy proceedings and assist the process by protecting the US-based assets

Anyone tied with the Mt Gox thing is blacklisted from anything I'll associate with.

Shame we can't say the same for China.
