Wow I wish I could also work in a company that would pay me with a bitcoin,
Seems like that salary would be save and most of the workers would just keep it safe in their wallet and wait for the price to grow .

That's what is called "to make money". Literarily. Out of nowhere. At this point Jamie Dimon's claims that BTC is a bubble seem to be provable enough. Bad practice...

Japan and Japanese companies were always leader in the use of digital currency and support blockchain technology  ( as it is one of the most developed countries that digitalise their daily life issues ) . But what I wondering about is : in the case of a massive BTC price change , will these employees get recompense ?
Anyway, they are really lucky

This is really amazing while many countries are in doubt of having bitcoin as a currency Japan give their full support to bitcoin and virtual currencies. By giving bitcoin as a salary they also give investment opportunities for their people especially that bitcoin value keeps appreciating from time to time. I hope this will bring success to digital currencies that other countries will also decide to adopt it.

No doubt this is fantastic news. It is certain that this will be copied by other companies, because historically, every innovative action is always followed. I hope this great innovation spreads throughout the world.
I am curious to know how was the reaction of GMO officials about this.
What about other Japanese companies, how did they reacted about this?

Nice, good for those in Japan and hopefully this will spread to other countries, let's just hope that when you get paid on a Monday that by the Friday the bitcoin price hasn't tanked and you end up with a fraction of what you had on the Monday Smiley

Japan does look like it's leading the charge and adopting bitcoin much more that many countries, this will change next year.

Japan can see the future. taking precautions from the front. an innovative and innovative country. these examples are evidence for some countries. those who argue that constant crypto money is always an illegal system illegitimate order,
I think that when they see the application of japanese they will get the necessary answers...

Japan is playing as a role model to other world countries in legalizing bitcoin and now a step ahead in even paying salaries to its employees. We could not even imagine such a scenario now in any of the other world countries.

GMO being a giant internet company has paved the way for other companies to implement it.Since its going to start bitcoin mining,it would get bitcoins as block reward and so,it has no need to buy costlier bitcoins in the market to pay its employees which would not be practical and profitable.

Another great news from the Japan. This country is really taking everything seriously about the crypto world. I mean what are the chances of country getting the crypto currency registered as official currency of their country, then add up more mining rigs and exchangers and also moreover give away the OTC trading legally.

This all and now they are officially giving away the salaries for their employees which makes everything just prefect. :-) This is all due to proper planning and execution of the same. Without this nothing would have been possible. Other countries are not taking things seriously. They think bitcoin as the first enemy of their national economy and that why they fear of having it. But Japan is going in the right direction.

This is actually profitable for the company and even to it's workers. As it's mentioned this new scheme will be started from feb the company could accumulate btc now and until feb there is a really high chance the price increases with this the company could save a lot.

For the employees as well there is a advantage if they get their btc and right next day it get's pumped it becomes even more profitable for them or they can simply use it for saving it.

Besides the topic, Japan is the most advanced country in the world, they are looking at the future like no one else and this is the best way to show to the world how it should be.
On the other hand, as an employee i would rather ask for a 50/50 for many reasons, first because i can't pay everything with BTC, try to pay your electricity bill with BTC if is not accepted: you have to sell some to get fiat and then pay the bill (keep on the list transaction fees which as now, are quite high).
All in all, being paid with a part of my salary a BTC it's considered an investment for the future like most of the holders in the world but we still need cash in the real world, not even in Japan cash is replaced totally with BTC.
Another side of the coin (pun not intended) is about taxation, how they will taxes the salary if paid in full BTC?
This is an interesting point i would love to read.

Do they held a consensus if 1005 of their employees will accept their salaries in Bitcoin we all know there's a huge fee involve when you tried to convert it to fiat if they ask me I will ask for 50-50 50% in bitcoin and 50% in yen it's more reasonable that way .

this is certainly a great idea, but rather risky, until bitcoin has become stable...I think this should be an individual decision of each employee - is he willing to take such a risk

wow, sounds good,
i think this news will affect other company to pay the employee with bitcoin and make bitcoin price higher

I don't think it is something that will encourage companies to do the same. The problem is that bitcoin is now considered as an investment more than a currency. It's like to compare with a company that decides to pay the workers with gold. I think this case with Japan will stay one of the few isolated case

Wow this is so great. This is what i loved to japanese people and specially to their information center. They are updated to what is new and what is thrending! They are very aware on and off the net. The government did a really good vision about cryptocurrency and they what its people to be knowledgable about this. I believe that they didnt just do this because bitcoin has the highest market price but also a preparation to the future of altcoins and cryptocurrency for the economical growth of their country! Also they want the people to explore their money in cryptoworld. But i know the japanese government have more action plan than these, and through this news. I think other country will somehow do the same think like japan did

Hi,

That's an interesting piece of news.. The fact that employees can chose if they want to receive bitcoins or not, is great.

However, for the few who will accept to get their wage in bitcoin... What's next? I mean, are there dedicated ATM machine delivering yens for bitcoins in Tokyo? Do bars, restaurants, and so on accept bitcoin?

I understand, someone must make the first move.. The problem is that, if infrastructure are not in line with the offer; then the employees of such company may soon think that bitcoin is a scam.

Anyway, thanks for sharing!  Wink

Great news, one more step towards bitcoin as a world currency. Japan is already quite advanced with bitcoin as many goods can already be bought with. In Europe here, we are not so advanced. Hardly any product can be bought with bitcoin, so it's not soon we'll get our salary in Bitcoins.

Since Japan as legalized the btc in their country it is easy for them to accept the bitcoin in everything. It is first time I am hearing that some organization will start paying the btc to their employees. I hope soon this can be replicate in other countries as well. On the other hand the employees can save some btc in their wallet rest they can exchange it for cash for their daily needs. So automatically they are saving the btc for future as well.
