The explanation here seems quite simple.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.5106206

    Activity = min(time * 14, posts)
    Increase activity by posting.
Activity is updated every 30 minutes.
Maximum of 14 activity every 2 weeks.

Or the full length version here: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.4881970

No wonder you see BURSTS of posting by people with ad campaigns.  I think if the "increase my posts just to increase my ad campaign post count" messages were removed the board would have 75% less messages.  Some of them are just soooooo obvious and add nothing to threads.  Too bad there isn't a way to weed them out and have them not count. Cheesy

There actually is a few ways.   One the signature campaign leader should from time to time check post quality.   Most do this.  It stops a lot of the "+1's" and one liners.

The ones that add a sentence that might be helpfully but chances are spam report it.   There is a little button that say's report.  If the person is doing this there is a good chance not only will post be deleted but have a chance of getting temp ban even.

Yeah,
Basically it will take 14+14+14 days to stop being a newbie, since time="two weeks" and after two weeks you will only have 28 points..

And in that time you would have to create at least 30 posts. However you could create those posts anytime after the three weeks.

But why would anyone be in a hurry  Huh

Main reason is someone sees rates of sig campaigns.  Most the higher up you are the more you get paid.

Sadly that caused some to want to jump ahead.   But sig campaigns do bring a little btc for those who post here.  So there is good to them in my eyes.

If you are active on this forum, your activity points will be high.

More like if you are active over long periods of time.  With 14 point periods it takes a while to add up.   It's made to not be a quick run to top.

You could be really active have ton's of posts.  But limited by the time since your account was signed up.

At first, I also wondered why sometimes I would post and on the same day my activity would increase, but other times it wouldn't. As others have already said, you basically can only get 1 activity point per day. If your posts are above your current activity level, then when the date for the activity change comes, I think it will update your activity by a maximum of 14 (assuming at least 14 posts were made before the activity change) points. At least that is the way that I think it works, I may be wrong though.

LOL, What is the purpose of making this so confusing?    Why not just list the number of posts.  In the end while the number will be higher the "ratio" of member vs. member will still be the same.  Those who post more will have a higher number.  There must be some sort of reasoning behinds this method but I'll be damned if I can figure it out!  Cheesy

Also the "trust" system confuses me.  There is "trusted trust" and "untrusted trust" and depending on how you log in it varies.  I created another ID just to see what it looks like and it's weird.  And then there is "THE TRUST NETWORK"  that REALLY confuses me!!!   I've been using forums since before Al Gore invented the internet Cheesy  but this one really keeps my head spinning on how it works.

Is there a "user manual/help file" somewhere that explains all the ins and outs?

No I dont escrow anymore.
your activity will increase today you can see it on spreadsheet table https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12saLhlUoqIdairxzuSPu6EYGrt7FN2lOstO1yDjCEbA/edit#gid=1324892580

can you tell mw how to read this table ? it show me your time zone : 3 and there is no any entry at the 3rd row ?

1st row is the activity jump in unix time (number of seconds since 1970.01.01 00:00:00), the second row is the activity jump for your time zone. The time zone offset from GMT can be set at the top of the table. The 3rd row is not used. So, last jump was 2015.07.07 14:53:20 (GMT+3) and the next will be 2015.07.21 15:00:00

You can only get 1 activity point a day.  However, if you only post once in each 14 day period, then later on you can make up for the days you didn't post and get more activity.

not if your total post is equal or below your activity, in this case you're limited by your post and not by your time only

Loose lips sink sigs!
One more thing to add here, the Forum makes the calculation to determine what your activity is way, way too complicated.

You get the lesser of 1 activity point for each day you've been on the forum or you number of posts. Also you must post once every two week period to collect the activity points for that period.

Is there an optimal formula for posting within certain time period, to climb up membership status?

You can gain 14 activity every 2week period, another period will start in 14hours from now and after that mark your calendar so you can know every period. You need to post atleast once in every 2week period so you can have another 14 activity

I seem to be stuck at 98 posts, though I thought I have had posted quite a few more since my 98th post.

Does this have to do with the activity/posting formula used here on bitcoin talk?

Any insight would be helpful, thanks!

H.
That's not your posts, it's your activity.  It'll change tomorrow (every other Tuesday).  You want to see how many posts you have, check your profile Smiley.

I just realized that, and edited my original post accordingly. Thanks!

Will be looking at those Tuesdays.
