Remember, with just-dice, only 10% of the sites profits go to the OP.  The rest go to investors and are not available for site operational expenses.  I am sure Doog will invest in DDoS protection now that it has become a problem.  Most likely it is a competitor site.

That's assuming that Doog doesn't own a healthy share of the roll himself, which I would imagine he probably does. Still, 626 BTC is nothing to shake a stick at...

I'm not complaining about the commission I get.  But it's nowhere near 626 BTC.  The commission was 1% at the start, then 5%, and has only been 10% for the last 3 weekly commission runs (I think), so the total commission is around 350 BTC so far.

And of course I'll invest in whatever protection we need to stay up.  I believe PrimeDice went with CloudFlare, but it didn't seem to stop them being down for quite a long time.

Just-Dice has been experiencing down time the past few days as doog has been fighting with DDoS attacks. Things seem to be running smoothly once again. As a token of appreciation for your patience and support during difficult days, the site is offering a .01 btc bonus to all users who were affected by the interruption of service. Please post a request with your User ID to the forum and you will be comped on the site. All users with ID's lower than 121212 qualify. Limit of one bonus per forum account.

That's ridiculous. I switched from PrimeDice to Just Dice, because of PD was under constant DDos attack, and now JD has a same thing. Wonder why a casino site, - which is profitable for sure - doesn't invest some protection. Huh

Former shitcoiner, former ICO maker and now a free
"Your IP address has been blocked for an hour.  Sorry for the inconvenience."

dooglus please tell why was that?  thank you

Are you running Gray's greasemonkey bot?  That seems to spam the site with bets.  It doesn't wait for each bet to finish before sending the next one.

oh. I know why then, i bet small amount very frequently but manually.  Seems I play the game like a bot. lol

Anyway thx for this advice I will play slower. And its okay now  Smiley

Thanks for your patience guys.  It sucks that I have to waste my time fighting this attack rather than improving the site.  But I guess that's the point.
Some options I found for DDoS protection:
http://www.neustar.biz/enterprise/ddos-protection/ddos-mitigation-technology#.Ui5ezZLbPng  <--offer on-demand DDOS protection
http://aws.amazon.com/elasticloadbalancing/   <--supposively helps with DDoS attacks on EC2 instances
https://www.cloudflare.com/  <---very popular service
http://www.rackspace.com/managed_hosting/services/security/ddosmitigation/  <---offers very robust DDoS protection both always on and on-demand.  They are expensive though I think
http://www.blacklotus.net/ <--like cloudflare, but has better reviews.  My friend uses this service for his company which is a small online retailer.   Plus they accept bitcoin and friendly to bitcoin businesses

The site is back up now, at a new IP address.  It will take a while for DNS records to propogate.

If you can't get in using the regular address, try this instead:

https://54.217.248.250/

That should work until DNS catches up.

Edit: it will show a warning about the URL not matching the certificate.  So long as it says "the site identifies itself as just-dice.com" then you should be good.
