Bitcoin: An Idea Worth Spending

I realize there's a shortage of girls on this forum, but this is just a terrible idea.

Bitcoin is here to revolutionize the world so it would be best if we kept the likes of Justin Bieber and anything/anyone to do with him out. Besides, it's easier using daddy's cash and credit cards.

This has nothing to do with getting more women on the site. JB was just an example. The idea is to get more people involve, thus creating more commerce to fee the demand.

The fact that you chose justin bieber as your prime example has made me lose respect for you.

I saved replying to this post for last.

Have you truly lost respect for me or are you kidding? The last thing I want is for anybody to lose respect for me. I try hard to do my part to help the Bitcoin community, and the last thing I want is for someone to lose respect for me. I worked hard to gained respect on this board, and I don't want you to lose respect for me. What can I do so that you won't lose respect for me? Please give me another example, and I will change all my post to grain your respect.

Thank you kindly for your input. I respect you for that. Any other poster would go on a diatribe, outlining how hard they worked to earn, have, and maintain respect. But not me! I'm different. As different as Bitcoin. Now if you excuse me, I'm going to hunt Google for an image to end this post before I lose anymore respect from you or others.

Don't ask what key words I used to find this image.

You'd better hope he doesn't start his own biebercoin... People on these boards will jump ship to anything in order to be early adopters...

How did you gain access to my Godaddy account?

Remember, JB is just an example. Can you think of another known personality this would work for?

Adolf Bitler perhaps?

I like your sense of humor. Meet me over at Meze Grill and we'll do lunch. I'll buy.

My first thought was: Bitcoin is not ready for JB fans.

Your idea isn't completely ridiculous; there might be another celebrity that would do this, but probably not quite yet. I reckon it should be someone that has a relatively intelligent following; not a bunch of teen girls who will just go "WTF" and forget about it. Maybe someone like Jon Stewart or Colbert.

Charlie Sheen?

Well, in his first posts in the cryptography list, Satoshi gave the example that public figures, like Justin Bieber, could use Bitcoin in the following way:
Code:
It can already be used for pay-to-send e-mail.  The send dialog is
resizeable and you can enter as long of a message as you like.
It's sent directly when it connects.  The recipient doubleclicks
on the transaction to see the full message.  If someone famous is
getting more e-mail than they can read, but would still like to
have a way for fans to contact them, they could set up Bitcoin and
give out the IP address on their website.  "Send X bitcoins to my
priority hotline at this IP and I'll read the message personally."
The original posting can be found here http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg10162.html

Sooooooooo... Let's convince someone famous to make money with their fan mail and we'll have all the publicity bitcoin needs to be mainstream Wink

If b-ber got involved, I might have to dump bitcoin.

See the beauty of this thread? One has to know who Justin Bieber is to hate him. Say JB starting doing this, and because of that YOU saw an article about Bitcoin you wouldn't have found otherwise. Try to remember where you first read about Bitcoin. It possibly didn't stem from an article taking about little Susie and her lemonade stand.

I knew beforehand that there would be JB haters, hence using other examples, but titling this thread using his name. JB may well be a terrible example, but is the idea sound?

Comments?

lol - our respective points are proven

I guess b-ber will do b-ber-coin on his apple i-thingy

Good idea. I'd recommend lady gaga. Seems like an enterprising businesswoman Tongue

But then, these people are probably so rich already why would they speculate on BTC? Unless they particularly like BTC.

People who are so rich, don't put their money in mason jars and bury it in the woods. They invest, to earn more money. They are always seeking new ways to increase their position. Bitcoin could be one of those avenues. Remember, it would only take one to propel this movement. http://blog.ted.com/2010/04/01/how_to_start_a/

Who wants to pay the million plus cost of such an endorsement?

I addressed this. There is no endorsement cost involved.

Bieber is making so much money. The Bitcoin logo with capital B ('B'ieber) that looks like a dollar sign fits him like a glove.

+1 you're right & and you have a really good point. Wasn't making fun of your post Cheesy Most of the current generation already understands virtual currency in the form of game credits and points cards so I think bitcoin having stuff like that wouldn't be far off and would definitely be a boost to merchants and the bitcoin economy. Digital natives who already get technology could start using Bitcoin right away. And JB already endorses Google Chrome.

It would be considered a silent endorsement. No words or comments needed. The person(s) who does this has nothing to lose, and a lot to gain. Unless, of course the negative media disses the persons for quasi-attaching themselves to Bitcoin
