A few Bitcoin cores running on several machines?

It would help the network. It doesn't use hardly any CPU or memory. Not sure how a number of them might effect your network. I have pretty fast cable internet and also use it for my TV, internet, miners, and it doesn't make a blip.

Would it be good to have a few of them?

I'm not sure I understand. A few of the nodes?

How much disk does a full node need?
It is just a Bitcoin wallet with the entire block chain downloaded?

84.7 GB right now. It's on a spare TB drive.

Yes, but it is also processing transactions as I'm connected to anywhere from 8-15 peers at a time.

Edit: It may be better on Linux, but my Linux laptop didn't have the space so it's on Win10. (A locked-down tight win10, I should add.)

Their TOS and latest update state otherwise.  Not saying that it won't ultimately work the way you are saying -- I think that they are going to try to stay in business.

Bitgo wallet or should I say one wallet multiple users, Bitfinex  fell for this crap and pulled the coins out of cold storage!

Responding to needs of Bitcoin businesses, BitGo created the first multi-user 2-of-3 multi-signature wallet. Adding multi-user capabilities allowed Bitcoin businesses to have what we’ve had in the banking world for years: joint accounts, multi-level transaction approvals, auditor account access, and more

I believe coinbase has insurance for a situation like this.

Coinbase is a different animal with different regs.  No margin, no shorting, etc.  Plus, Coinbase must abide with U.S. law.

I wouldn't trust their insurance to cover BTC loss, but I suspect that it would cover USD loss for a limited amount.

Latest update from Finex says that the customers that lost coin are screwed.   Huh

And, presumably, they are going to TRY and continue operations.  I cannot IMAGINE ANYONE EVER trading there anymore -- but, this isn't the first time the Finex has totally screwed their customers.  Me included.  Where is the "bang my head against the wall" emoticon???

They are just going spread the losses between members and continue business as usual

I LOVE the fact that you are running a node.

I haven't done that since 2011/2012.

Yeah -- make sure to prioritize that list.  USB FIRST!!!  Grin

I pulled my coins out of Coinbase about 5 days ago after installing Bitcoin Core. Now my coins ( and keys) are in my sole possession and backed up to 3 different locations. I guess if my house burns down I'll grab the cat, my girl, and my USB flash drive. Probably not in that order. LOL
I also get to help the network by running a full node 24/7. I may have to shut it down once in a while but for the most it will stay running.
Edit: It would nice if I got tx fees!  Grin

Looks like I did OK buying 1/2 coin last night @548. Hope the upward trend continues.

Three blocks today. We can do at least two more. Let's get going!! Blockssssssss!  Grin

I went in for 3 - 1/2 coins at that level.  I started to do more but I restrained myself  Smiley

I believe when the panic about Bitfinex settles down we will jump back up to the 650 range again and we all should make about 1.25% on this situation!

Good job. Wish I had a little more to spare. If it dips again to ~550, I'll try to pick up another 1/2.

Great to see block #5. Can we make it SIX??  Cheesy

Carl, aka Sonny :)
That one was another small block with no free txns in it coz it was only a 13 second network block.

The blocks are hitting a bit faster since the diff dropped  Grin

The idea of returning stolen funds is in fact circulating elsewhere, getting miners to reorg the theft? a fork? this is coming from a core developer of BTC could this be true? if so is lame

We talked about that last night (1 or 2 pages back).  It would require 51% approval of miners.  But it doesn't work philosophically.  The block chain must remain immutable.
