I will toast the same to everyone bringing in the hash, especially canaan we appreciate it.

"No shave" November is starting to look pretty good. I may never shave if it keeps up.

Well ... I tried to post this last night, but when it was confirmed I couldn't get onto the forum Tongue

Well I guess "the pool" is back in a good mood after the bad luck of 'red october'
(half the 12 october blocks were red and high diff%)

Yay green blocks Smiley

Edit: and while the numbers are showing there on the shifts page ...
All shares from the start of shift 5f9dj felli Oct-26 19:06:45 UTC to the end of shift 5ga5y gin Nov-02 00:45:55 UTC (that ended Nov-02 00:53:25 UTC) have already acquired 5 or 6 of the expected average 5 rewards and of course all the shifts (that include some in that range) after that can still get more depending on the next blocks Smiley

Edit2: we have another big player mining, pushing us over the 2PH mark.
Here's to hoping canaan, who is back again, will stick around for a while.

Kano tell what you need to put the difficulty for Ant S1 on your pool that would be fewer errors, for example 128, which would not hurt the pool
It will currently drop down as low as 42 - just no lower.
It starts at 1042 if you don't set the start.

You can set it on the Workers->Management web page to 128 if you want that.

The ONLY difference the diff makes is variance, it wont cause more or less errors.

128 is a bad choice since it's a power of 2 and some of the bitmain firmware don't record the best share if work diff is a power of 2.

192 complexity of choice for antS1???
As the front web page says, ckpool sets the difficulty to average around 18 shares per minute

It can take a while to get there, but the whole point of that also is that a pool that messes with the difficulty regularly is a poorly written pool.
There's no need to adjust difficulty very often if at all (except when you first connect), only if your hash rate changes a lot - which it shouldn't do on a normal miner.

If it ends up a bit higher, again it makes no difference to anything but variance.
A stable diff is way more important that being concerned about a slightly 'high' diff - though calling it 'high' is only in reference to the target 18 shares per minute, where a higher diff will mean fewer shares per minute but of course average out to the same result due to the shares having a higher diff.

do not specify difficulty and it will start at 1042 and the pool will work out what is best.

Discarded, as I've mentioned elsewhere recently Smiley, has nothing to do with shares.
I removed it from my version of the S3 display.

Don't worry, everything is fine.
The Accepted Value is the important one and that looks ok.
The Discarded Value is the number of calculations wich are not in the hight to be transferd, this is normal.

Thanks for confirming, hopefully will be getting some more of my rig online this week Smiley

Quick question for the group.... My discarded share # seems to be through the roof (2,362,444), is there something wrong with my miner (Antminer S1) or is it simply weak compared to the rest of the pools miners? If I add more of the S1 to this pool will it be pointless?

Or do discarded shares simply not matter and its other numbers that do? Still learning about mining here  Wink

Thanks,

Michael.

I cant believe bitcoin is up to 445. Any one know why the price spike? Think this will have an affect on how many blocks we find since more miner will be turning back on their gear?

Many theories, I like the capital controls in China and people using BTC to move money out of China since govt imposed a 50k USD limit. But who knows. At this price and growing the diff increase will be 8-10 percent per adjustment till all new hash is figured in. Old turned back on and ramped up production of new. Bitmain alone is putting about 2.5ph online weekly via HW sales and hashnest sales. This price keeps up and 30 days from now we will have 600ph network

Diff (and luck) decide

Diff goes up (and hash rate doesn't) means fewer average expected blocks per time frame.
