How do we go about courting cobramining to come back?  I wonder if chocolate and flowers would work?

I'd ramp up more miners if I could find a hosting site. But I'm maxed out in power and my electric isn't the cheapest in the world, though being in oil country you'd think our electric would be cheaper. But it seems like every hosting company is full.

A snake charmer is what we need for that.

A Barbie has been decapitated for the next block.
Assuming Lady Luck accepts pre-orders, I did my bit for Karma 2 months ago when I donated 22x retired s7's to Sidehack to work his majik on and then sell through asicpuppy @ the damn good price of $499 (all sold out now of course). I don't resell as part of the proverbial ROI exit plan - I donate my retired miners for that Fuzzy Warm feeling Wink A lot of Sidehacks 2PAC stick miners use harvested S5 chips from my farm.

Come on gal! Get more slaves interns to plow through your Good Deeds list!

I'm running two of your old S7s now - they're working great, and pointed to Kano of course.

Our blocks might not come as fast, but I am making 5.3 times as much per block now so it kind of makes up for the longer times between blocks, kinda Smiley

Get a few more blocks and hash rate comes back.  Always happens, right now it's almost two weeks now to fully ramp.

Mine ON!!!
The amount of downtime when you change the processor frequency is the same time it takes when you change pools.  It basically just does a reset, definitely doesn't take 3 hours.
You are totally right NeuralChris - it only takes the 5 minutes or so that a reboot takes - yeah.  So I tried several different frequencies and it did not change the final frequency at all.  The automatic frequency average was around 630, so I tried 650 as one of my attempts.  The only thing I saw is that the fan speed maxed itself out (4080/6000).  The frequency average / hash rate remained mostly the same (it bounces around a little anyway of course).  So I can confirm that the hidden minerAdvanced.cgi option does not change the hash rate (and fortunately does not break the system).  It is possible that it might be able to be used to change the fan speed though in case anyone needs that.

i been trying to figure out how change the fan speed because i got one S9 that works at 80* all the time the fans never go above 3000rpm. they stay the same even when i change the frequency.

Ah, I did not know this. Well done, sir.

BTC mining is a bit funny these days.
Large, noisy machines working 24/7, doing incredible number of calculations, yet making just 0.002-0.0025btc/day ($15) for 14th S9.
S1s were making 0.08 Btc/day (forty times more!) in the spring of 2014. More even in $ terms: $40/day.
Profitability is being supported only by the btc price surge. How long would it last/continue?
If the price stops going up and difficulty continues to, we might find ourselves in the difficult spot during 2018 or in 2019.

Until new machines are produced, we're stuck with what we can control...our overall hash rate.

This month payout is 110% of PAPPS. Is PAPPS used by some other crappy pool that only pays the block, not tx fee?

Its encouraging to think we could get a 23+ size block if we get one today. That would be almost double the base reward. I think that shows that in the future when the mining rewards half and half and half, that mining will still be profitable.
Plus BTC will be worth 20kUSD by then too right?Grin

Ya the bigger block rewards easily make up for the drop in price on btc to.  and just a few of them big blocks would really help to bring up our. PAPPS% for nov

and meanwhile people mining on pools like antpool who think they have low fees are going to be paying out the nose in unpaid out tx fees that antpoo skims off the top as there network engineer tip or whatever they call it. (thats one hell of a "small" lol tip.)  lol lol

Next time antpool does gift giveaways for miners who mine with them full time, They should give away big jars of Vaseline.
As it says when you click on the blue "?" Smiley
PAPPS% is the Pool average PPS - which is: MeanTx% * Luck% minus the pool fee
So yes it includes MeanTx%

On that other PPLNS pool they pay Luck% only, which is bad coz MeanTx% is always above 100%, and for the past year has been quite a bit above 100%

Note that when we have a month like June with MeanTx% of 122.31% - on that other pool you lose that 22.31% OUCH so yeah their fees are ridiculously high.

And they still push 7.7 TH reliably, at about 1200W at the wall, 240V circuit. I don't necessarily recommend that second setting as Canaan targets the chips to 90C, but it works well for me...
I am curious if you know how to change the targeted temp for the S9's (I think it is the July batch - hardware    16.8.1.3, logic S9_V2.30).  My garage is getting cold here in Wisconsin and does not seem to be cranking up the hash to increase the temp.  The boards are running around 60c now and in the summer it was around 80.  I know there is a cgi-bin/minerAdvanced.cgi hidden menu (currently at 550.00M) but it says it will be taken off line for 3 hours if I change it...  Does anyone have experience with this?

Just got notice my first 741 just got shipped, woot!

I think you'll really like them! Their (the company) responsiveness has not been all that great, but adding independent suppliers seems to be helping push things along. The Avalons themselves are bulletproof... currently have 9 of them. I'm running 3 in Canada along with 2 AntMiners. The AntMiner S9 already has one partially burnt-out board, and my lucky S7 (found 2 blocks over the last year, and I bought it used!) unfortunately likes to randomly drop out for no reason on occasion. The three Avalons there run 24/7 at 7.6-7.7 TH stable. The other six I have here in-house. Of those, three have been running for the last 9 months almost flawlessly. Just make sure your controller and miners are running the latest firmware.

Side note... I also run the in-house ones at a slightly lower power setting to reduce fan noise and keep things stable with a slightly bizarre 10" duct heat removal system:
Code:
Voltage Offset: -2
More Options:   --avalon7-temp 94

And they still push 7.7 TH reliably, at about 1200W at the wall, 240V circuit. I don't necessarily recommend that second setting as Canaan targets the chips to 90C, but it works well for me...

I've got two running here at home, and another in Labrador. I've been happy with all of them.

I may buy another; I'm not expecting the new Avalon for a couple of months at least.
