Try it out. Worst case scenario it won't work as you expect but you can't kill the card don't worry.

What coins are you thinking of mining with your gear?

Ethereum for the amd cards or ?

As for the powerlimit and such , for the AMD cards DDU the drivers and install latest AMD Adrenalin drivers, former radeon settings.
In adrenalin  settings will be easy for you to undervolt the rx 580s , also you can save profiles now, will save you tons of time not having to rewrite all the values for independent cards.

what is the worst case scenario if i set power limit very low ? like -50%, it will consume less power but what can happen to gpu ? can i damage it ? is it safe to try at least, in case system is unstable i just go back but is it safe ?

You cant OC to +70% core or memory on these cards.
For power for nvidia for example you can lower to 50%TDP and it works very good. Not sure about ATI how it would go. Never tried since on nvidia is easier.

I heard some people undervolt them at -50% and overclock them at 70%
do you think gpu can resist such pressure ?
of course in this case it would be very profitable to mine but its just madness to abuse the gpu like that

Yeah.... I don't know if I'd be mining at that electricity rate.... maybe as a hobby of for future speculation, but not for daily profits.  If you're paying that kind of electric you will need to optimize your rigs for Hash/watt.  Some GPUS, GTX 1080 Ti for example still do quite well at 60-65% power limit.

Sell , make profit, wait few months for things to settle down, try again with the nextgen GPUs.

the whole craziness came from the End Dec - early Jan baloon, the so called "futures" speculations/manipulations and the media. + people are greedy.
nowadays even grandma is mining in her kitchen and kids want for their birthday a gpu to mine Smiley
The funny part is most people say : ooh I mined and have profit 40$ today ,  have now 564$ ...etc......no you don`t. You got some crypto nothing unless you cash it out, pay dues and have in plain old cash.
So the perception is a bit fake as you see.

that's about 40% of profit spent on electricity at -10  power undervolt.
I was lucky i was able to buy the hardware cheaper than market price and had a deal for all 8 gpu  but i don't understand why it is such madness people buy these gpu at any price right now
It just doesn't make any sense for me is pure madness / speculation
I bought these gpu at 499$ each a week ago but now their price on best buy is 599$, 200$ more raised in just 10 days
I'm thinking to sell them or just return (still have  5 days left to return)

I think i should sell this rig...

According to that ... You're probably going to be paying high usage rates, because that rig alone is going to be using 658 kwh every 30 days.

Get a  new roof upgrade. Tesla solar roof or whats it called.

At that  electricity price it mig not be a bad idé!

0.23 california rate

Wow ... Didn't realize it was that high out there.  I'm paying 0.10 in the midwest.  So anyway ... If the rig is using 915W at the wall ... You'll be paying around $151.XX per month for that, if it's consuming 915W 24/7 for 30 days.

Nicehash shows 300/month profit for 4 gpu while power usage monitor shows i'm using 142$ per month.
That's half of profit to pay for electricity, its a lot! lol or maybe i'm doing something wrong

The 8.71 kwh is probably usage since it's been plugged in.

does that mean it consume 2$ per hour Huh

915W*24 Hours=21960W

*Convert to Kilowatts*

21960/1000=21.96kW

*Multiply by kWh Cost ($0.10)*

21.96kW*$0.10=$2.196/day

-

That's how you calculate it.  Change the $0.10 rate to whatever you pay for electricity.
