Dammit, I can't see any of the piccies at work! They are blocked!

However, all very good news.

this is OK?
I have something in mind to insist on 200x200 heatsink
Yes. That will work fine with vertical PCIe connectors. The cables come in from above or if upside down then from below, with a bit more clearance for the vertical connector height. That doesn't affect the heat sink but how you might mount the boards/heat sink to a chassis.

I think you are right
here it is corrected

I see the problem now. I haven't updated the KLego docs on github for a while. It shows two boards as back-back but that cannot work now with latest board changes. Now they are all back-front and side-side. I'll try to get that updated again within the next day.

For your cutouts they would need to be like this:

UU
----
UU
----

or

UUUU
--------  (preferred as power conn from front does not hang over back board)

Here is a sample design of 4 K16 daisychained with 200x200x25 mm heatsink as frame
I like this idea but you'd have to orient the boards differently. The cutout for power connectors could not be back to back, in the middle, as you have it because the KLego connectors are arranged only to allow back-front connection tiling, or side-side tiling. I avoided the back-back arrangement due to some users wanting to use horizontal PCIe connectors to have less space under the boards (12mm). The leads would be in the same place and could not be attached. Vertical conns would work but I only have one KLego on the back edge so when rotated they don't line up for back-back connection.

I'd actually suggest side-side tiling as best because even with the current arrangement there is going to be issues with how far the PCIe connector extends over the board behind it and if it hits the USB/PIC parts. On a K64 board this can be worked out in the board changes, maybe use horz. conns on back two and vertical on front two. But with 2x K16 back to front it's less than ideal. Side-Side tiling avoids all this as power cables come in the back. So a side-side tiling would be 400mm long x 100mm deep.

+1 on the side-side version

The company http://www.deepcool-us.com/Contact/ can produce any heatsink and fan according to our specs for K16.
By the way, KNCminer using their fans too: https://www.kncminer.com/pictures/product/big/5370_big.png

80 or 92mm fans can be less than 2 bucks from known brands. What would be the minimum CFM to look for? (sorry, no idea here).

Also, will the screw holes in the fan align with the heatsink?

We can use 100mm CPU fans, like this one http://www.deepcool-us.com/Product/THETA15/ and modify/change heatsinks. Screws and backplates are included, if needed.

Eh, 100mm fans are going to be a pain to get. But nothing is stopping from you designing an adapter for 80/120m fans. I've got plenty of extra 120's.

I expect to order the scope today thanks to KS who arranged a bitcoin sale for me and made a large donation in US$ to get this going. For as much as I love Bitcoin it's still a hassle to transfer in/out of $$.

I can probably help you out here.  You can have a family member visit me in BC for security/collection (aka "send the boys around").  I use coinbase to a US bank account.

I've also met Adam from http://vanbtc.ca/exchangers, we could use him too.

If you have only a few K16s then the better option might be something configured like this.

I know I am stating the obvious, but I  imagine 80mms would better facilitate to higher tiled boards like the k64.  No overlap.

Edit: cancel that.. 200mm fans are plentiful and would be preferable to 4x80s anyway.

What about sample chips?
They has been shipped?

Greetings from Spain  Smiley
No no news on samples. I'm sure any word on that will be big news all around the forum.
It won't happen quietly. So many people are waiting on them.

I love that they put two sets of holes on those fans. Great idea. Why no prices on their info?

Check for distributors... using that brand name. I suspect the first one the Japanese model can't be found it might be discontinued. The second one there are plenty of sellers for it.

** News Flash **
Just got an email that my K1 test boards have shipped out.
I'd expect them here in 6-7 days then. Job #1 - get everything ready for that.
And get the K16 finalized and out.

sounds nice BKKcoins, keep at the good work!
