Tech Update (Dec 2018)

Hey everyone! The past few months have been extremely busy for us, from the numerous community events and meetups to collaborations and integration with a very diverse group of projects. On top of the community and ecosystem expansions, a lot of work was also done on the technical side to improve Kyber’s reserve system, which we will cover in this technical update.

We will also share about developments made on the WBTC initiative, trading enhancements, and on other ecosystem efforts. Lastly, we’ve developed a number of tools to provide stronger support for both developers and end users.

Decentraland Integrates Kyber To Accept ERC20 Tokens For Land Auction

https://blog.kyber.network/decentraland-integrates-kyber-to-accept-erc20-tokens-for-land-auction-5d28d8944c86

We are happy to announce that Decentraland, the decentralized virtual reality platform built on Ethereum, has integrated with Kyber, giving LAND purchasers the option to pay in eight different ERC20 tokens during the upcoming LAND auction. This is a good demonstration of how DApps within the Ethereum ecosystem can make use of Kyber’s liquidity protocol to improve the user experience, by allowing multiple tokens to be used in a wide variety of use cases.

The upbit effect, like it or not
https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/kyber-network

Finally some reaction in prices. KNC was one of the most lost market value in recent months. The best projects that use ETH have suffered greatly in recent months. I believe that with unique project advancements, even with ETH stability at $ 200 they can go up quite a bit. 0x went up a lot, now KNC and probably the next project to have a high will be the OMG.

The price quickly returned to near the pre-pump value as suspected. KNC won't really make any significant price movements for a while, they first need more and more people to actually utilize it and then there will be a higher token burn, at the moment the token burn is so insignificant. The recent announcement about the ERC20 coin linked to bitcoin isn't really special either, I saw many other exchanges saying they had a similar deal.

Crazy news, Upbit has added KNC to its stock exchange and the price of the token has risen 37 percent. I think it's amazing.

I am a fan of the Kyber Network. Because the founder of this altcoin is the man of my country. He really made me proud to be the first to set up a successful altcoin. I think we should support the altcoins that are always working hard and bringing good results to the market. At present, Kyber is not a strong competitor but it needs capital from investors to develop better technology.

The key characteristic of bitcoin is absolute decentralization. There is no single, chief administrator or other managing person. It is enough to have a standard client program. Client program.
I completely agree with you that ideally Bitcoin should ideally have a decentralized system. But what can you say about the fact that the Chinese miners control almost 70% of the Bitcoin hash rate?

Kyber Network Crystal ( $KNC ) has been listed on Upbit, a Korean exchange launched by Kakao, the largest messaging platform in Korea.

KNC is an integral part of Kyber and necessary for the operation of our liquidity protocol.

Every coin that lists on upbit seems to get a huge pump but it seems to be very shortlived, I think we'll see Kyber back around 0.00006 satoshi before too long, it's promising that the price has been climbing steadily before this news but do you think that could potentially be because of people who were privy to the information that it was going to be listed on upbit?

The project has been showing impressive progress, including the launch of KyberSwap on the Ethereum mainnet back in February 2018. I tried the platform and it was a very smooth experience with nice and simple UI. The team has been making improvements on the product since then, as well as announcing multiple new products, including a layer 2 scaling solution. I believe it is a great team with a focus on the technology.

Knc fees are paid by market makers and not customers, so holding knc is no benefit to someone trading on Kyber Network. The benefit of holding is that once the trade volume increases the token burn will accelerate and rapidly become scarce in the market. The price will increase in proportion to the trade volume

From the demand side stakeholder perspective:

I would argue that one of the most fundamental mechanisms that I would hope/have hoped to be added to KNC is ability to "stake" tokens away in a contract to be payed rewards after the staking period is over. (similar to OmiseGO's model)

Kyber on its roadmap has stated it will implement support for trading advanced financial instruments, so an example would be to have users stake their tokens to aid in these mechanisms if possible, like derivatives, hedging, etc.

Possibly a similar mechanism to MKR and DAI's use of CDP that peg the value of the DAI to USD but used instead toward financial instruments.

Thanks let me know what you think of the suggestion!

On Friday, June 8th, over 200 of the world’s most renowned blockchain entrepreneurs, developers, academics and venture capital funds were in Singapore to attend the Kyber Network 2.0 event held at the JW Marriott South Beach Hotel.

This event was a celebration of Kyber Network’s milestones, and an opportunity to show our appreciation to the many ecosystem partners that have contributed to our success.

More importantly, Kyber Network 2.0 provided the platform for CEO Loi Luu to unveil our vision to be The World’s Decentralized Liquidity Network.
