The rebranding is due to the repeated cease and desist letters received by developers and services involved in 'coinye' due to its name. A number of people from the community (myself included) came to the conclusion that a re-branding was the best solution (when this was happening the coinye devs were abandoning coinye). This way everyone gets to keep the coins they accumulated, and services can operate with the new name, allowing them to adopt the coin without potential legal consequences or harassment from kanyes attorneys.

Those that wish to continue calling it coinye are more than welcome to do so. No ones stopping anyone from using the coinye wallet. Exchanges can start listing koi/btc (without getting cease and desists), users running the coinye wallet can still deposit coins into their exchanges koi address.  Same blockchain, same addresses, everything is compatible. Koin does not intend to replace coinye, but to allow it a means to be widely adopted.

It's very unlikely you will see coye listed on any major exchanges anytime soon, if ever. Koi on the otherhand, more likely as it doesnt come with the risk of legal action.

This decision was not made by one person, but a group of active community members (this all took place on IRC).

Where can I get the new wallet with the Koin? I downloaded from the link here and it's the same as the old Gayfish Coyne one

I like the new look! community should drop the coynecoin then maybe craptsy might list this one.

I think the KOIN logo above looks better than the fake fish sticks logo. You can add the total coins present in original to the KOIN description.

KOIN is simply the idea of some people wanting to refer to it as such. It's not a different coin. It's just the idea that some people might see benefit in calling it something else.

KOIN can never be bigger than COYE... Interest in money will once again overcome the idea... Yes, maybe KOIN will get big, and you will earn some cash but it will be dead soon after that... Coinye had a chance to become epic...
I have lost interest in this coin but I will hold what I mined.
And of course, having two coins that are the same coin hurts them both...

Krvno... some believes that staying with coye connected to Kanye is still good idea - media etc etc... but some believes its very bad idea - as long lawiers will be doing work no real exchange market will accept this ...
sure there are 2 sides... but still there is something between... new marketing for new rebranded coin but still with long backuped old history of coin ... the history that actually never will be erased ...

So sure people like you will say - the hell with this and will not get interest - this is the side that wish it to dead... the ones who will believe in reborn ... those ones will make it successful...

so yeah all depends on how someone will look on it... it was always and will be to the end - majority will decide about future... not individuals

ok so idea is starting to going in proper way....

it would be the best now if those changes will be made:
1) updated wallet for windows - so no more COYE named there or connection - lets try to erase the old names as much as possible
2) pools and other sites - best if new domains etc will be listed ... even if they will direct to old ones for now but ... best to not list old names in main thead... 

If rebranding to new coin ... then it should be done from begining to the end in all possible ways As long it will be getting back to old name as long it will be having troubles in acceptance by people/exchangers and well this damn K***e lawiers :/

I posses on my own many millions of this coin SO yeah I will be for sure backuping this idea And no not planing to sell this for a longer while hehehe from experience I know that there will come time when it might be worth few times more then now bad start.... doesnt eliminate great finish
