OP It's really sad that you got scammed like this. Any member of this forum should always use escrow in any kind of dealings to protect himself from such scams. Because after dealing with a member a few times, you may think that he is trusted, but this is actually a wrong thinking, the trusted member today can scam you the next day and you can only realize it when you are scammed by him.

Hope other members will be careful after your experience, and use escrow before transacting any amount to make a safe transaction.

you've been dealing with stuff online and never once have you used an escrow so I'm not particularly sure how they could've thought of that
I have personally used escrow services a few times, but I still agree that most people don't really care about escrow services and that's why they get scammed by such scammers. I have never dealt with the people who were suspicious to me, like the one OP mentioned in his thread. The ones who sell accounts of the forums are most of the times scammers, and that's why I try my best to avoid such scammers.

I feel bad for you OP but you should be careful next time. As yahoo62278 has suggested that you could have use an escrow that would save you from being scammed.

I believe escrow services of the reputed members of the forum is necessary and anyone who doesn't escrow, always risk their money.

You're not the only one who got scammed by such scammers. Anyone who isn't aware about such hacks often get scammed by such scammers.
Seeing how OP is a newbie in this forum, it's probably not the first thing that have come to his mind because there's no way that you'd think of this first when dealing with something online, you've been dealing with stuff online and never once have you used an escrow so I'm not particularly sure how they could've thought of that, maybe it's a mistake but I think that not everyone who's new in the forum would do any hiring of escrows, at least OP knows now that this is the thing that they should do when doing it again. Maybe it's their fault that their exploration of the forum didn't include inquiry when it comes to doing deals here but other than that, I'm sure it's still the scammer's fault, they need to be punished.

To OP, I'm sorry for your loss but remember that karma is a bitch and whatever goes around comes around, that scammer's days are numbered, something devastating or miserable will eventually happen to them so never worry too much.

Tagged.

I have also added a newbie/guest flag on his profile. Please support so that it's always visible just in case I am not on DT at one point - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;flag=3294

I really wish people would stop being cheap and use a damn escrow on here. You could have protected your $140 for a few more dollars. If the seller refuses escrow then you know not to deal with them.
There are even some members offering the escrow services to the community for free. It amazes me how people trust strangers with no single reputation without hesitation.

Also, as Khaled said, personal text area we can put anything we want. Click in where it says trust and look at his feedbacks. If he has 0 feedbacks from DT or other accounts besides newbies, then don't risk it.

I looked at his profile and it says he is a "trusted" seller.  What clues am I not seeing?
The fact that you didn't use your common sense and just completely trusted someone just because they've got that on their profile, that should've ticked off your red flag detector because no one in their right mind or a have clean intention would say that they're trusted, you don't advertise your service as trusted, you're supposed to get those from the vouches of people that have done a transaction with you from the past. I guess, those times that this scammer delivered is probably a set up to make you trust you and lower your guard, how much did you spend before he scammed you?

Thanks for providing evidence. I gave him a red trust. If he values his account then he will respond to the linked accusation. If he doesn't then he will also get a flag. Hopefully we can clear this up as a misunderstanding rather than a scam attempt.

You can delete the other thread. Duplicates only spam up the board.

Youre saying you dont see the words "Trusted Seller" on the screenshot on the right hand side?
Yes, but it doesn't mean anything. It's called "Personal Text" and you can type whatever you want there from your profile settings. If you visit my profile you will see "Top Crypto Casino".
If you want to check the reputation of a member, you need to visit their trust page. There, you will see the feedbacks that other members left them. Don't trust everything you read, though.
This is the trust page for the user in question :
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=2826133
As you can see, he already got a negative feedback from a DT member.

this is where I saw trusted seller:
https://i.imgur.com/VJHlv6M.png
There is no "Trusted", word there but Trust any profile has that Trust word on that page, if you click that you will see the negative reviews of that user as scammers and plagiarist. Geez, how can you assume a word "trust" as "trusted".

Also, copy the whole thread context on your new thread then edit this OP and paste it to save. No need to create a new thread, lock it using the "lock topic" that can be seen in the lower left if the thread.

OP, why did you start a second topic about the same issue?
If you want to follow the right format and provide evidence then just edit the subject of this topic and add/edit whatever you want. Duplicate topics is against the forum rules.
As JeromeTash has pointed out, this forum does not moderate scams and scammers do not get banned.
All you can do to warn other users is to leave him a negative feedback and create a flag against him and use this thread as reference.
Always use an escrow especially when dealing with newbies.

Where does it say trusted seller, though?

I looked through his profile and not even a single person gave him any positive feedback.

You didn't have to create another topic, though, How I wish you had just edited the current one and just made additions. Anyway, I am looking through the information you just posted in the other thread and will tag the account shortly if everything checks out.

The OP's mistake was trusting an old business dealer. According to what the OP stated above, he has been dealing with the user for some years now, so this is not the first deal; others have been successful, but this last one that warranted this thread was the wrong deal.
A similar thing happened to Dillt last year. He didn't report the scam, but if I was in OP's position and I see such feedback, even if it's untrusted. I will stop dealing with the user or probably use escrow,

Also normalize reading through feedback left by other users before dealing with anyone here. The clues that he would scam you were already there on his profile

For someone who has dealt with a user and there was no problem, I don't think he or she will take some feedback very seriously, as they have already developed trust for the user over the years.

I looked at his profile and it says he is a "trusted" seller.  What clues am I not seeing?

Which of his profiles did you look at? Based on what I saw from his trust list, I saw one negative tag received for posting plagiarised themes and the retaliation feedback he sent back to the user who gave him that negative trust, unless there was more to it that I didn't see.

How do I proceed to get him banned or an infraction or something?

I dont expect to get my money back but how can I make it so that others are not scammed by him as well?
He won't be banned as the forum does not moderate scam, but we can tag his account if the evidence that he scammed you is sufficient. Please follow what @goldkingcoiner suggested and make a good report.

any chance you can provide screenshots backing up your claims? I am not saying that you are lying but it would help solidify your accusation against him and perhaps with the evidence that you provide a flag can be created against him.

sadly not much can be done other than giving him negative feedback or creating a flag against him that DT members will support(that's why I ask for evidence to back up your claim).

Dillt    2023-12-05        He's a scammer. At first everything may be fine, but then he takes money, then stops responding.

Secondly, the ANN is locked. There is another red flag. Scammers lock their threads so that the people they have scammed won't be able to post in their threads, warning other users.

I saw escrow.ms's lolipop thread 4 days ago and placed a order for 1000 lolipops. After I sent him payment, he just went offline and never came back. I think he's a big liar and a scam artist. Stay away from him.
