Athletic Club has developed into a team that rival teams have to be wary of. This season, they have defeated a number of formidable opponents, most notably Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. Athletic Bilbao's scintillating performance against Diego Simeone's Atletico Madrid came as a surprise to many including me especially when the were already leading the Copa Dey Rey semi final tie with 1:0 scoreline from the first leg. I was very surprised to see that Athletic Bilbao succeeded in winning the first leg of the game that was played at the home ground of Atletico Madrid but was of the opinion that Diego Simeone's men will likely fight back and defeat Athletic Bilbao in the second leg which didn't happen as expected.

Real Madrid was eliminated from the Copa Dey Rey competition this season by Atletico Madrid abd that was why I thought they were definitely gonna end up as the eventual winners and when they were drawn against Athletic Bilbao, I also thought they were gonna easily win the tie. Football is one game that's always full of surprises and that I think is what makes the game the most beautiful of all the sports games in the world.

With the result of the game tonight, Athletic Bilbao will face Mallorca in the final of the competition in April and considering the performances of both teams since the start of the season, I think it's safe to say that Athletic Bilbao will win the Spanish Copa Dey Rey at the end of the season. Exactly, Athletic Club can win 2 matches from the first leg and the second leg and we wonder why Atletico Madrid is having difficulty facing Athletic Club or maybe Atletico Madrid is having performance problems?  Basically Athletic Club is no better than Atletico Madrid but maybe luck is on their side. For Bilbao they had a really good and interesting game as their performance was otherwise not a bad one at all and they were able to still end the game getting three points from a team that's considered a tough one this season and it was obvious in the fact that Madrid was able to dominate the game but later got to the point that it looked like it was a lucky day for Bilbao and all the efforts Madrid tried attempting to get something off this game became futile and they lost the game making Bilbao going home with three points but it still didn't put Bilbao ahead of atletico Madrid on the table as Bilbao is now at the fourth position and Bilbao is at the fifth on the la Liga table.

Although this game was for the Copa de ray which implies that Bilbao is moving on to the next stage of the game ahead of Madrid as they have won them in both their first a s second leg.

People just don't know how strong Athletic Bilbao is, especially in their home Stadium, San Mamés. Copa del Rey is also their favorite tournament. They have won it 23 times in the past, ahead of Real Madrid (20) and Atlético Madrid (10). Only Barcelona has won more titles (31). No surprise, they obliterated a stubborn Atlético Madrid tonight. I think they are bagging this year's title.
I am also pretty impressed by how the Iñaki Williams and Nico Williams are coordinating so well and making history at the Athletic club.
